Umm but see,I'm an engineer and there for I do research and read. Its like, an engineer thing. :innocent: ;)

*sigh*

I wish i could predict the future sometimes.

That's how I am too, minus being an engineer
I research everything, it drives my BF nuts sometimes. But this time, I've had to make myself stop (trust me, I DID do a little reading online one one 'Lasik horror story' site).

I'll be sure to post on here how mine went; remember, I'm having something completely different than you done. They don't create a flap during my sugery, they do everything on the surface of the cornea (which is why it's supposed to be more painful I guess), and only are doing one eye at a time. Should be interesting!

Interesting she says.

I am waiting to hear from you.

On the 16th I go to see the 'mock ups' of what I will see like if I do this. Did you get previews too?????

I know nothing about it thats why I have not replied, BUT
I had a male friend who Todd and I used to jump with back in the 90s. He had coke bottle bottom glasses and always looked a bit of a nerd.
I saw him at a mutual friends funeral several years ago. WOW, he had the surgery and could see great and no glasses.. Turned out lonnie was a bit of a hottie.
He said it changed his life! never said it was painful at all. Everyone is different~

I am not over 40 but had PRK 3 years ago and have blue eyes and they are dry. It was the BEST thing I ever did. I do have halos at night but to me it is well worth it. I can see under water and I don't have to worry about losing my glasses all the time. Plus I hated wearing glasses and because of my dry eyes contact did not work well for me.

The plugged my tear ducts with sponges and that helped a ton for the dry eyes.

What pushed me over the edge to finally get the surgery was that I lost my new dolce & gabbana glasses 3 weeks after I got them!! That was the 3rd pair I had lost!!!

Kady- Who is doing your surgery? Colonial eye Care did mine and I was really happy with them

Yeah, when I wore glasses (till I was age 18 and bought my own contacts) I would lose them all the time while riding, or learning to jump. I remember walking with mom looking for them around the jumps - her glaring, me enthralled at the jumping..... <3

So are you REALLY blind?? Will it make a huge improvement with the surgery?? no glasses ever again?? If so I would say do it. I only need glasses for reading, Old age eyes. so I have never worn anything up till the past few years and those are just buy off the rack readers. Good luck whatever you decide to do. :)

Dr. Rampona at First Colonial is doing mine  Is that who did yours, or is Colonial Eye Care different?

My eyes are already dry, but don't bother me unless I'm wearing my contacts. I've had tear duct plugs in the past, thought I still did, but the Dr. informed me that mine must've come out over the past few years (no wonder my contacts felt like sand in my eyes after a couple hours!), so they're going to put them in during my surgery. I also might go on that Restasis stuff for 6 months to a year, but they haven't decided that yet.

DQ - Nope, they didn't show me any preview of how I might see after the surgery. Well, they did show me what a halo would look like (but I already have slight issues with those at night anyway, so I already knew). I think I watched 2 different videos on the actual procedure, and what to expect, etc. though. I definitely feel prepared.. other than that I totally forgot to ask how long I need to stay away from them barn. I'm pretty sure it's like 10+ days :pissed:

I was on Restasis for two years and it did nothing...and it isn't cheap, even with insurance. The plugs made a huge difference but from time to time I use the Systane lubricant.

I think that I was out with the horses the next day, feeding anyway, I just had to wear protective eyewear. I bought some of those protective glasses that they use in construction ( with the side covers)

Awesome! Small world haha.

Well then, considering my dad's business has like 100 pairs of safety glasses laying around, I think I'll be set.

Dr. told me I should 'sleep as much as I can for 2-3 days after surgery'. We'll see how that goes :psycho:

Btw- OT, but Clyde is doing awesome. He's the boss of his little friend, so I'm sure he's quite thrilled with that. And your new baby is adorable! Can't wait to see the others when they come!

You will want to sleep after the surgery!

I am sooo happy Clyde is doing well!!! YEAH!!!

This is probably PT type stuff but... If you and Eric are bored Sat. and it does not rain you should come to car night in Va Beach. There is a Viper cruise that is ending up there (jen and Lee and doing it) and Randy and I were going to meet them in the Supra. I would lOVE to have someone to talk to about something other then cars!!!

I recommend that you sleep as much as possible and stay away from the computer for a few days. The healing process goes quicker if your eyes are closed. When you sit at your computer you blink your eyes far less than if you were reading a book or watching TV

I had mine done in the AM, went home and went to bed and slept off and on all day (thanks to the Valium)

Don't fudge around with your recovery time as we are talking about your eyes here

Good luck :)

Where is everyone going to meet up? I'm not sure if we have any plans that night (probably not, unless Eric's working on a car  ), so let me know. You can PT me the answer so we don't derail this topic :)

I had surgery done in my 30s (not 40s) but I have windex blue eyes, and before surgery had problems with dry eyes, runny eyes, and severe light sensitivity due to extra large pupils that don't constrict enough.

The surgery itself was virtually painless. I took the Valium, had the intralase and the custom lasik.

The drive home for me was HELL. I had a lot of post surgery pain. I was hysterical and could not stand the pain even with a blanket covering my eyes. My husband had to take me to Kaiser and I spent nearly 30 minutes in extreme pain in the pharmacy as he yelled at the pharmacists to give him the GD eye drops. It wasn't pretty. I got home into a dark room and put the pain drops in my eyes, laid down in bed, and was fine within about 5-10 minutes.

GET THE PAIN DROPS BEFORE THE SURGERY.

If you don't need them, fine, but have them ready. It was my biggest mistake.

I could not look at a computer screen or go outside for a few days, the light sensitivity killed me. I started getting really paranoid. But within a couple weeks I was back to normal, and the night halos even went away within 6 months or so.

Best thing I ever did, but I wish I would have prepared a bit better for those complications.
