I'm very flexible (can place palms flat on the floor or sit in lotus, as well as do a split), but it doesn't seem to help my riding any <_< Pilates did help my sitting trot though, because it made my abs stronger. |

Hey JTM!! I can't touch my toes either! I also am insanely inflexible... I can't even sit on the floor upright with my legs straight out infront of me because it feels like my hamstrings are going to pop out through my skin. I don't have the patience for yoga either, so I try to work on it home, but it hurts so darned much it doesn't seem to be worth it... |

I think my legs are just really short, but I have always been very flexible. At 46, I can touch my hands flat on the floor, sit in lotus position for a little while and can still do a split - hard to believe at my age, but I can. The rest of me is blubbery and out of shape though - just real stretchy blubber, I guess  |

I can barely. But I am insanely pleased that I can graze the top of my toes with the very tips of my insanely long finger.

Not in a million years! And my ankle flexion? Non-existent. Pathetic. Mr. Corey94 sits comfortably on the floor with both legs out straight in front of him, so I can't use height as an excuse either. The ankle flexion is my biggest bugaboo. My riding is permanently stalled because of it, IMO. |

I can (and over 50 mind you) I can also do a cartwheel and a roundoff Course I can also break my ankle walking and cut my finger off tying out the puppy - but that's another story..... However, I really need to do start some sort of exercise/stretching/etc - I'm currently kinda just being a sloth - I walk, stack and unstack wood, clear yard debris, play with the pup, clear trails, but no 'regimented' exercise. This spring summer I'm going to try and build a patio, plant a garden, and maybe fix my paddock fence or redesign the 'barn area'. |

Yes I can. I have short legs and am very flexible. I was a cheerleader for about 10 years or so, so I can tumble and all that fun stuff too. Haven't in a while, so I'm not sure how pretty it would be if I tried a roundoff back tuck NOW. |

yep what Fenny said. I can touch my toes and the ground too after a few flexes. Cartwheel - pfft. Nope. Splits - ha!!! Ouch. I used to be able to link my hands behind my back: reach around behind head with one and down around back with other - but that is going. I need to work out and flex out more. |

I don't think that short legs have anything to do with it- I've got a 34 inch inseam and a ridiculously short torso and I can still do it. As for the flexible ankles, you can have too much of a good thing. My ankles are so floppy that I can stand on the sides of my feet with soles touching. It just means that my feet look like they are ready to take flight when I'm riding. I think there must be a happy medium somewhere between rigidly inflexible and floppily loose. |

Even being the cripple I currently am I just tried and I can touch my toes. Now as far as sitting x legged, forget about it!! I can do a cartwheel but it tears at my stomach muscles so maybe I should so cartwheels every day. In my cast I am sure I am unable to do it though! |

How pathetic am I that I just stood up at work, bent over and touched my toes? I had no problem...and I'm wearing 3" heels. Cartwheel? I don't think that's going to happen. I'm scared to try. Seeing that my right arm can't even bear my weight for something as simple as pushing up from the ground out of a sitting position, I don't think I'm going to try a cartwheel any time soon.
