WHAT is worth $ 4,300????

New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer became the butt of jokes faster than, well, faster than it would take a john to ride Amtrak from New York to Washington.

"I sat next to the guy three times and I didn't pick up on any of this and I usually have excellent whore-dar."- Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert

"It's just mind-blowing that he spent $4,300 on a hooker. It just shows how high the cost of living is in New York. That same hooker would cost $50 in Newark." - New York comic Lisa Landry.

"They're talking about impeaching Eliot Spitzer if he doesn't step down, and I'm thinking, `Whoa, a Democrat being impeached for extramarital sex. Well, happy days are here again!" - David Letterman

"Spitzer was called Client 9. Not surprisingly, clients 1 through 8 were Charlie Sheen," - Conan O'Brien cracked.

"It's so sunny and bright outside that earlier today, Eliot Spitzer came out of a brothel squinting," - David Letterman

"The real ironic thing about this case? Today the hooker said that Spitzer was done in a New York minute." - Jay Leno

"Politics is the only profession where the wife of a man caught with a prostitute has to stand by his side, If this guy was a plumber ... he would have his wife's SUV tire tracks over his head," - Jay Leno

Letterman's top-10: messages left on Eliot Spitzer's answering machine:

No. 1: "It's Arnold Schwarzenegger. Thanks. I'm no longer America's creepiest governor."

I work in Albany, so this is the ONLY thing anyone is talking about.
One of Letterman's top ten reasons for this a few days ago was, "Have you ever BEEN to Albany?" Of course that got a good laugh out of us. Actually, Albany is quite a nice city.
I'm pretty jaded about long term relationships, so I'm certainly not surprised by any of this. I am surprised that he was stupid enough to get caught! Total arrogance. :jaw:

Do people really think they are not going to be caught? Didn't he also at first deny any involvement?

I'm just glad he wasn't frequenting a male prostitute, or the headlines would read "Spitzer Swallows"

What I find so amazing is that, unless I heard the news report wrong, he was caught in one of his own investigations.

Boy does power get to some people's "heads" :psycho:

Spitzer Swallows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o :jaw: :o :jaw:

Good one!

Yeah, hypocrisy rages on...Mr. Law And Order Damn The Prostitutes And Their Johns has been using call girls for SIX years.

Oy. <_<

AND, yeah, you just GOTTA wonder WHAT is so good that it costs $4300??????

The hubris upsets me more than anything. People will always do crazy stuff, but I hate the superior attitude and the business of hunting down everyone else who uses prostitutes and condemning them while the guy is doing it himself! :pissed: :brickwall:

Jeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzz.

I heard that a political website did run the headline: "Spitz'er Swallows" Didn't see it myself, but I believe it.

It's really embarrassing and sad for us here in NY. (Buryinghill2, I didn't know you were in Albany - so am I [just outside])!

My dh works in politics (small "p") so this is just such a big deal for us, although certainly it is for all New Yorkers. The hypocrisy is the worst thing. He took such a moral high ground that it is just a long fall down for him. Although I hear many people/industries are enjoying it thoroughly - heard there was actually cheering on the trading floor on Wall Street. Personally, I think if I were his wife instead of standing beside him he'd be announcing his resignation alone with a big shiner & fat lip.

Well.....looking forward to Governor Paterson. The first black governor in New York and the first legally blind governor in the country. And I've heard nothing but good things about him from people in the know; my former boss said he's "as bright and articulate as they come" and he's looking foward to working with him. So....maybe he is the silver lining in this whole mess?

What a small world!! We live just south of the city; my dh works downtown, as did I before kids....but we lived in the city proper for about 15 years, starting in Center Square downtown, and then to the Buckingham Lake neighborhood which is just west of St. Peter's. Our pediatrician used to be w/ Albany Med, and located in the hospital when we first started going there (then their pediatrics moved out of the hospital) - she was an international adoption specialist (Dr. Elaine Schulte). We miss her! Personally I think Albany is a nice city, too.

Well, we'll have to have a mini-TOC party sometime! :)

I heard this on Fox news, so, take it for what it's worth.
