Has anyone ever seen or used this hay feeder before? http://www.slowdownhayfeeder.com/ind...&id=1&Itemid=1 What did you think? My only question is how the top plate stays even -- it's not "springy" like the second one. Or, how about this one? http://stallskins.com/grazer.html I'm a little concerned about the high/sharp corners on this one though. |

I don't like either of them The first one my destructo mare would take apart in about 5 minutes and the second one looks like an accident waiting to happen. Too many sharp edges Then again ...I see things....you know I can look at a situation and figure out exactly how a horse can get in trouble  |

I've been selling the "Grazer" for a couple years now, and noone has complained of their horses getting hurt. People have always raised the same question about the corners, so the new manufacturer has started putting corner guards on the front corners. They also cut the price in half so now they list for $199.99. As of 5/17/2009, we list them at $156.00 + shipping at www.uniquelyhorse.com |

Cool idea, but no one in their right mind would pay $400 for that first Slow-Down thing. You could BUILD it for $30 or less. See this awesome thread from HorseCity about slow feeders--on page 2, post 40, someone explains how to knock off that $400 feeder with a basic barrel and a piece of plywood. She makes improvements to the design and posts those in post 114: http://forums.horsecity.com/index.php?s=b3e4aaa9af717f42ff8de9c61a0ef5f7&showtopic=47025800&st=30 I would love to slow-feed my horse, but my boarding barn isn't in love with the idea of stuffing my Miller's Haynet (I was only willing to throw $17 at the project). If/when I ever go co-op, I will totally put Skyler on this hay net full time. It is tough as nails and I easily crammed 4 flakes of hay into it with room to spare--it wasn't the most convenient experience of my life, but it fit just fine: http://millerharness.com/product.asp?pn=X4-27286&bhcd2=1242572954 Edited by jn4jenny, May 17 2009, 08:12 AM.
