Which number on the chart is your bag? It's friggen black tumi, and it combined with its contents are worth more than you! Don't give it a number give it a red tag and get it back! My underwear are in there! Ergh, if only we could say these things.. |

That depends on how cute the shoes are....I have a great lost luggage story. Last year, Trainer and I were horse shopping. We flew to FL to try one...and took two bags, one with clothes, shoes, etc. The other had my saddle, boots, helmet, all horsey stuff. One the way home, only one bag showed up. Luckily it was the one with my saddle in it! The poor harried lady at the the lost luggage desk said I was in remarkably good spirits for someone with lost luggage. I told her she was REALLY lucky that it was the bag with my clothes that was lost....if it had been my saddle I would have been homicidal. She looked at me a little funny... |

I take all the 'irreplaceables' on my carry on (thank Tomassass I am female and as such can carry a LARGE 'purse' AND a back pack AND a carry on *wink*) That said, I do hope that your bag is found, shoes intact, promptly!! And sistah, we are here to be whined at, whined with and basically wined, with cheeze and crackers. And uhh, cindeye did NOT mean to park THAT luggage at the door.

I had to deal with the lost bag crap a few years back and it was a frigging pain in the ass. Not only did they put my bag on the wrong plane, but the woman at lost baggage wrote my claim number down wrong so that when I called the "have we found your bag yet?" phone number, there was no record of my bag in the system. And getting anyone from lost baggage on the phone to fix it took forever. Once I got someone on the phone, I find out that they had found my bag, but they said they couldn't deliver it to me (even though originaly it was supposed to be brought to my apartment). After raising a royal fit and getting nowhere, I decided to suck it up and go to the airport - which was only one Metro stop away so not a really big deal - and pick it up my self. So I get to the airport and go to lost baggage and get told that "oh, we just sent your bag with all the other bags to be delivered to homes." WHAT? No no no no no! Fortunately, the bags hadn't left yet, they were down at the other concourse joining other bags so someone went to go get it for me because there was no way I was leaving the airport AGAIN without my bag. After that, I only check my luggage if I absolutely have to. And I never check anything important. |

So my luggage showed up at midnight last night complete with my cute shoes
I'm slightly concerned with checking it this afternoon to go home as it has to go back though Atlanta and I"m pretty sure that's where is got lost. It is a size that I can carry on but I also have a computer roller bag and a purse so it's just easier to check the bag. At the very least I'm wearing the shoes  I told my boss I'm going to expense the new suit, shoes, casual clothing and toiletries I had to buy yesterday to get me through my meetings. |

Nice. Losing a cute pair of shoes is always a disaster. Losing luggage period is a huge headache and can be a nightmare. I'm glad you got it all back. Good luck getting it home!! |

I dunno, I fly a lot and I've had my bags lost a few times. I found (especially when I am flying home to NJ into Newark) that the nicer you are to them, the faster they are willing to find your bags. I was on a flight out of Spokane through Minn. a few years ago and they lost not only my bags but about 6 people who obviously were from WA not NJ. THey turned on the 'tude to this stereotypical Jersey girl-airline counter lady (big hair, big nails, lots of makeup and thick accent). She got less and less cooperative the worse they got, so when it was my turn I just said it was fine that I would like my bags at some point (trying not to freak out that my half chaps, boots, helment, etc were in one bag). The other times have been into our tiny (6 flights a day) airport here and the only problem that I have is that if you miss the last flight in for the day (about 6pm) you have to wait until 6am the next day. One Christmas my mom made me spagetti sauce and froze it and I took it with me. Yup, that was one of the years they lost the bag But you can't get mad at the airport people here, they are super nice (ie. if you bags are slighty overweight they let it slide, or they will hold the plane if you are running a bit late). The best one was losing our dog though. My dad flies to the midwest several times a year to hunt. Before 9/11 (to much $$ now) he used to take our English Setters (his prized pets) to get them experience on wild birds. Well one year out of Nebraska, they lost our Setter Sandy. My dad got to Newark and there was no dog. They tell him, don't worry, we'll get her back to you tommorrow. My dad looked at the guy and said "Nope. I'm not leaving here without my dog so get her here tonight!". Turns out she went to Texas I think. But they got her on the next flight, albeit a few hours late, and the next time she flew, she got to go for free! |

After losing my bag once, I now make sure that I have one complete outfit in my carry on. As hubby says it's to get me to the mall to buy whatever I need if they do lose my bag. I used to always put all my shoes in one suitcase and all jackets in another one, etc. Now I mix everything between the bags so that I won't be screwed if one goes missing. And you should have some recourse for having to buy stuff for meetings. Wouldn't travel insurance cover at least part of that? Can't believe they lost your dog though, that's too much. I have always wondered about flying a big dog. Does it seem to stress them alot? |

Nope, not any more than traveling other ways. My dad had a vet talk him into sedating her once, that was a giant mistake-stressed her out more than flying unsedated (not to mention lost 2 days of hunting because she was loopy). Our lab came from Missouri at 8 weeks and the setter we have now came from Montana (my dad has a very rare line of setters that are only bred by a few people now) at about 9 weeks. They both bounced right out of the crate when we picked them up. My lab died in October, so my dad has a deposit on a new pup from the breeder in MT. Either she is going to fly home from there, or I am going to go get her and carry her on when I fly home after graduation. |

When I was filling out the paperwork on my lost luggage there was a guy waiting on his new puppy. The puppy wasn't lost just very late but came right out of the crate and was so cute. |

I've always heard that where they put the crates for dogs isn't pressurized. Is that true? |

Nope thats not true. They have to be pressurized or the dogs would sufficate and I am pretty sure all of the aircrafts today are presurized throughout. The area isn't always temperature regulated, which is why some airlines will not fly dogs in the dead of winter or the middle of summer. Continental and Delta both have temp. regulated areas for dogs. Continental even has a pet taxi that holds the animals until after all other baggage is loaded, then they drive up, load the dogs by hand. When you land, before they even unlock the cabin doors, the dogs are off and back in the pet taxi van (its the big passenger van that has all different dog faces painted on it if you ever see one on driving around the airport...I know for a fact they have them at EWR and SEA). The last Delta flight I was on, they actually held our flight in Salt Lake to make sure the two dogs were loaded (which saved my bags from being lost because we were an hour late out of Newark and I had 10 mins before flights! but that bought enough time to get my bags on-good thing becuase the next flight in wasn't until 12pm the next day!)> |
