Yay for Puckers return. Lots of cookies for him. We have a few that will wonder for a day or two but then always return. They know where they are fed and loved. Maybe Puckers has a girlfriend on the side. |

Fish Cheeks, so glad your kitty came back. I know exactly how you must have been feeling...my little cat desparately wanted to start going outside in our new ultra-close-living suburban home in CA (after living on a spacious farm where she came and went as she pleased), and against my better judgement I did let her out. She came back the first time, but the second time she disappeared and I haven't seen her since. Had a few sightings in nearby neighborhoods, but never found her before she moved on. that was in mid-Nov. I've given up on her gone for good. I still miss her every day. I thought about posting her in God's Garden, but that makes it permanently real, ya know? Anyway, I'm SO GLAD your story had a happy ending for Puckers.

hey101 I'm sorry to hear about your cat! I'm still upset about the first one we lost. Little Man of Great Ferocitude looked like Monkey Beans and he was so cute. If you held him up to your face, he would bite your nose and then fall asleep with your nose in his mouth. I miss him, too. It's hard with cats - I like letting them go outside - they are so much happier. But I worry about them, and we've lost a couple.

On NO!! I am sorry your kitty is missing!! All my life (except for a few years on a busy street) my cats have been able to go outside. Now with Betty Lou, Charlie and Lila (Lila Garrity from Friday Night Lights) they are indoor girls! I struggle with letting them out and it is so hard on me!! Betty Lou (named after Bob Seger song, "Betty Lou's getting out tonight!) has escaped a few times! I worry so much about my girls!! In the last few months I actually ran over a young Calico, so much like two of my girls! After that I was like you 3 will never go outside!! I struggle each day with this!! Any one else struggle with letting their precious kitties out!! Fishy, glad to hear your cutie pie came back! I know you have lost a few!! |

I definitely do, especially after losing my little Orca (she was black and white patched, like a killer whale- an "orca" and she had a little stumpy tail, she was a tiny little thing but so funny and scrappy!) I still have two more kitties who were originally barn-kitten-rescues (actually, so was Orca) but even at our farm they preferred to be inside. Still, they knew they could go out whenever they wanted and I usually tossed them outside every day anyway. Here in Cali those two have definitely become mostly house-cats, but still ask to go outside now and then. Our back yard is fenced, so I will let them out for "supervised outings!"- I stay outside with them! But as soon as they look like they are going to make a break for it, I catch them and bring them back to the house. I just re-read what I just wrote, and BOY do I sound crazy! I'm already a crazy cat lady! I know Orca wanted to be out, and so I feel better knowing that's what she wanted. She was miserable inside the whole time. I would HATE it if I couldnt or didn't do the things I love to do just because they were dangerous (ride horses, anyone?!) But I still miss her. I hope she's out there somewhere and having a grand 'ol kitty time. |

Yes Ma'am I do. I HATE letting mine out, but they would go bonkers if I didn't. Fortunately we live on a quiet street and everyone BUT me has cats that live outside 24/7 <_< so the drivers are really careful. I really try not to let them out when I'm not home, and that works most of the time. I always call them in at twilight. I used to let them roam until 10:00 PM, but then the new "angry" kitty started coming around to beat up my boys, so they have an earlier curfew now. We also have a resident coyote that will sometime make his way to our street around twilight.
It's good motivation to get them inside I tell ya!Sometimes they don't want to get with the "program" and end up staying out late, but I can't relax until they're safely tucked in for the night. cat lady.
