Just ditto on what the others have all said. Since Current Kitty isn't terrorizing New Kitty, NK probably will eventually adjust. As an adult it will take a while, but don't push it. She'll come to you when she's ready! The best is when they start deciding they don't "see" each other. My mom's cat went an entire month "not seeing" my cats when they visited while I went through a major move... |

Kitty Update: She's being more adventerous today, actually saw her walking around the basement, and she let me briefly pet her. My dad said that she actually came up the stairs and was peeking out the door, saw him and went downstairs. Still, kudos to miss brave kitty! She's actually very very pretty, a blueish charcoal grey color. Here's hoping she comes upstairs again soon.Mia(old kitty) is being VERY FRIENDLY now that she's got competition, it's kinda cute and I certainly don't mind! I need a name for the New Kitty though....and ideas? Where are the name gurus? She's that grey color with pretty green eyes. |

Thanks everyone, keep the names coming. I kinda like Jade! I'm a true believer that animals will find you when it's supposed to be. She found me.:) |

Aw, bless you for taking her in!! Sounds like the kitties will eventually at least tolerate each other, and new kitty will settle in, given some time.
She sounds lovely. And yes I think it's hysterical when cats walk around "not seeing" each other. A dog would never think to do that, at least not in my experience. |

Hmmmm NK...NK...how about Inky? When we brought our feral kitten home, he would pin his ears back and hiss and spit at me. It took a good 3 months or so before he'd even take a step towards me. I think with scared cats like that, it is just patience, patience, patience. Go about your business, don't make any moves towards the cat, let her observe you and decide that you are a good person. She'll come around in her own time. She's lucky to have you!!

Awe, thats cool! he looks very much like my mother's Russian Blue, who is a very sweet, albeit shy cat. Of course, she had a rough go of it before coming to us... But congrats on the new family member! |
