We bought a forecloseure that was built in the 60's. It was trashed. I started the clean up/painting the first part of Nov, then my Brother came out at Thanksgiving and REALLY got things going. (He does custom woodworking...)

Fanstastic job! I love looking at remodel/decorating pictures.
The kitchen has a post in it similiar to the one in my new kitchen. How does it look in real life? I'm not crazy with mine, although people that come in tell me it looks fine. I'm trying to think of something creative to do with it. Mine is right at the end of the counter that divides the kitchen from the living room. Unfortunately, it is holding the house up.

I would have loved to do without the post, but since the kitchen used to be a "U shaped" galley kitchen, and the vent for the drains in the house, and electrical for the garbage disposal/dishwasher ran through the bottom cabinets, I needed a way to have the vent pipe and electrical concealed. (We made the island, so no longer could hide that stuff in the cabinets).

My brother made it fairly decorative at the bottom and top with a series of gradually smaller/stacked boxes. It looks ok, but, like I said, I would have liked to be able to do without it. However, I would have had to break through the floor foundation from the wall the oven is on, all the way to the island, and bury everything. I didn't think it was worth the several thousand dollars to do it.

If you want to do something to make it more decorative you can buy some moulding and make some long, raised rectangles (about 2' x 6"), so you will have a raised panel effect. Or buy some crown moulding/dental moulding, and put that at the top and bottom. You can also buy large columns in heavy duty plastic/melamine (sp?), which you could cut vertically in half to enclose the column (reseal cut seams with pvc cement or something similar), then do a faux finish for a marble or colorwashed look.

I like your built in entertainment center.

Thanks, the backside of the entertainment center is more kitchen cabinets.
My kitchen was done for me as a gift from a family member that's in the business.
Your remodel really looks awesome, I hope you have good luck flipping it.
I'm going back to painting now. I'm about halfway done painting this house and I'm losing steam at this point. :(

Rosie...that is a sad story. She was a TB (tattooed) that was found stuck in a drainage canal with a saddle on. They think she was being used to ferry drugs, or ridden by a lookout for the smugglers of illegal aliens. She had huge sores all the way to the bone on her back, and cut up legs. She was being ridden like that.

She was rescued by a lady that runs a rescue/animal cruelty investigations, that I volunteer for occassionally. Rosie got fostered, and was starting to improve, but her organs shut down and in spite of vet care, died about a week after she was found.
