I gave up soda. Which means no root beer floats. Snoopy will be so upset with me.

Heh...I don't usually give up anything for lent, protestant that I am. (We tend to celebrate it, but not give up anything...that's more for those of the catholic persuasion, I think.)

I have a co-worker though, who regularly rails against religion, etc and she's giving up sugar for lent. Cracks me up.

Last year I gave up the Crossroads Bakery in Doylestown, PA. (They cracked up when I went there the day before Easter and told them.)

Now I'll have to think about this year. Maybe Law and Order Special Victims? But what would I do with my time?

I gave up fast food (not that I like it that much, but it's too easy to fall into eating it when I'm in a hurry), lattes (I'd give up coffee altogether but I admit it, I'm not strong enough, and my hubby doesn't want to live with a person who's totally crabby <_< ), and trying to cut WAY back on junk food in general.

It's actually nice when I can get in these good habits during Lent. Now if I could only keep them afterward for a longer period of time... :brickwall:

Anyway thanks for reminding me that I'm supposed to go get some forehead ashes today, although now I'll have to go to the 7:30 pm service and it will be too late to walk around with them and freak people out.

I'm giving up my morning muffin (I am a creature of habit so this will be difficult!)

then because I like to always put a positive spin on things.......(Pollyanna, Pollyanna, nah nah Pollyanna!)

I am going to try and 'do a good deed' every day. Something not in my usual agenda - something for someone else. Today I left fresh coffee and some homemade apple cinnamon 'sweet' bread for the fellow working on my house,

I will also fast on Fridays....

Heh. Episcopalianism always seemed like Catholicism without confession to me. :P (meaning: very traditional. has a set liturgy. Altar boys. etc)

I grew up Lutheran. We celebrated Lent, but didn't give anything up (at least not from what I remember).

I'm dumping fast foods and pop and will will will drink 3 16 oz glasses of water at work.

I'm cleaning up my back room - horrors!!!!!

I promise to do some housework. Rosie the Roomba has been the best  but I really need to dust. <_<

And I made an eye doc, ob doc and dentist apnt. All to be accomplished this month. Check that colesterol, bp, see if I can get that lazer eye surgery.

I like your idea MB about the good deed a day - I may have to steal it!!

Honestly, I haven't thought at all about lent. Is that bad? :innocent: I am a catholic and I feel like I should. Sooo, I'm thinking something along the lines of broccoli. That's easy, I never eat it. I've always hated it.

Ok no, maybe chocolate because I'm a chocoholic. :lonely:

Does lent start today? I should know this. It does, right!?!?
