Ouch SnackPack - naughty, naughty Show!!! I can sympathize with your other back pain. I suffered with chronic back pain for a few years. I did chiro, acupuncture, massage, PT, stretching, yoga, nothing seemed to really work until I tried a different chiro who has massage therapists in his office so it was a 2-for-1 shot. Also, taking Calcium/Magnesium supplements helped. The pain didn't totally go away but it subsided enough to let me sleep. What I sadly realized, though, is that it is riding Miles that makes my back hurt. Since I stopped riding for the winter, my back has not been bothering me. But I won't stop riding him so I guess I'll just suffer again when spring comes around. The last time I fell off I landed on my feet so luckily no additional back pain! I even have it on video and it was the stupidest thing ever...

I know, I know. I seem to fall off a lot, don't I? I'm usually somewhere around once every 6 months. Maybe I need to re-think this riding thing. (Although I think my fall off of Orion doesn't count because someone else SLAMMED into us in a warm-up. ) |

I'll be okay. I might have to glue a doughnut cushion to my saddle, but I'll be ok. Hope you're okay too. Does this mean my @ss isn't fat enough?! Clearly not, as it could not fully cushion my tailbone. Bring on he cookies!!!

So sorry to hear about your fall! Last time I fell was when GG spun around like a top, I fell backwards right onto my leg/butt, it hurt like crazy and I had the ugliest bruise a good 8 inches long that lasted several weeks. I have had 2 decent falls since I began riding again, and both hurt 100 times worse than any fall I can remember. But, like we say in dirtbiking, if you aren't falling you aren't pushing yourself enough or going fast enough. It just means you are still pushing past your fears and you are brave. Braver than I am! |

That's the way I look at it. Bring on the cookies until falling on my ass feels like falling on a pillow. Alternatively, it could be that my ass is so large that it pulls me down so that I will always land on it first. Shrinking it may mean the chance to land on my feet once in a while. Get those freakin' cookies away from me! |

My back tended to achy sore for so many years I really didn't notice it too much any more, except first getting up in the morning or when I got really tired. Then I got Jakey. The PERFECT CURE for the ACHY BACK!!!!! He likes to sleep back to back with me, with his head toward my feet. His back fits *perfectly* into mine, providing both heat and support exactly where I need it. My back doesn't ever ache any more, unless there's a darn good reason (say shoveling 2 feet of wet snow off the 100' driveway, plus paths to utilities, hay sheds, barn, etc!).Too bad I can't clone him and sell the clones as backache cures, lol!

I think I realized that falling and bouncing stopped once I hit 30!
Thoroughbreds have nothing on a warmblood who is feeling good...if you know what I mean!
Up, up, and away!SP-sorry to hear you didn't bounce. The last time I came off I think my anger was what motivated me to get up or I would still be sprawled on the ground. <_< |

I used to come off every 6 months too (thanks Dear sweet Miss Rita, RIP little girl) but after getting Grace I have come off 1x in 3 yrs of riding her. (Oh me and my big mouth.....I just set myself up didn't I?) I just don't bounce like I used to. |

When I started back as a re-rider the first horse I bought dumped me so many times. It seemed like once a week but maybe it was once every two weeks. No one who ever rode that horse DIDN'T come off of him. Totally shattered my confidence and gave me shoulder trouble that still lasts. Falling off as a grown-up sucks!!! I think not only does it hurt our bodies more, it hurts our confidence as well, and each fall takes just a little more fun out of riding. Snack Pack, take care of thee! I hope you didn't hurt your arm and shoulder any further!!
