This poor mare. I have a soft spot for draft crosses since my "first" horse was a Perch/TB, who I still miss to this day. http://www.virginiaequestrian.com/main.cfm...b=view&ID=23359 And then there are the semi-funny ones, such as this that only shows a photo of the mare's ass: http://www.virginiaequestrian.com/main.cfm...b=view&ID=23265 (Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of legit ads on that site, but some just have me going  ) |

"Leads, loads, ties and pasture breeds" is some compelling ad copy. Why didn't they flesh it out a little bit -- like, "eats, drinks, and shits"? |

Selling as a broodmare only. Not registered. Code for: Not sound, not ridable, pretty much completely useless. |

They make me sad. I wish I had a place big enough to adopt them and just let them live their days out. Then I'd know that they wouldn't be bred to create more unwanted horses and also that they wouldn't end up in slaughter. Same with cats and dogs at the animal shelter...I'm a sucker. That Pedigree commercial with the cute little dog who doesn't get adopted makes me cry. |

Everytime that Pedigree commercial comes on, I have to remind myself the dog is an actor. He is not really sitting in a shelter looking bright eyed and bushy tailed everytime someone comes in! Even when I am not PMSing, that one really gets to me. All my dogs are adoptees/ditch dogs. |

My dogs have always been "outcasts" too. Whenever I go to the shelter, I want them all. Look at this ad: http://virginiaequestrian.com/main.cfm?act...b=view&ID=22043 Skills include: drinking from puddles.

I think I found the other half of the picture! Tricks include navigating a paddock full of rocks with feet crossed. Honestly, everyone we know has a camera of some sort. Is this the ONLY picture you could get???

No, that is a trick pony! They taught that one to do the famous cross step...you know, on the way to being a Grand Prix Dressage prospect. The poor chestnut hony...could you knock the mud off his face before taking the photo? |

Me too! My first reaction the first time I saw it was, "How can I find out where that shelter is? Oh, wait, that cute doggie isn't really homeless..."

I think that one could actually be kind of cute. But I agree, there has to be a better picture then that. |
