I know this is the silliest thing but my husband says that this is a really healthy, low fat food - I am not sure where he is getting his information from and I am concerned that it might be loaded w/ sodium & other things... Anyone know?

Actually, I just read something about Pad Thai from the editor in chief at Men's Health magazine, also the author of the Abs Diet. He said that it is loaded with fat. Not the worst thing, but not too good either. |

Noodles and Company's pad thai is listed at 750 calories. I can't see where it is good for you, persay. It is made with noodles, which are basically unconverted sugar, oils, sugar, etc. When I make it, I use whole wheat linguine noodles, splenda instead of sugar, etc, but it's still a guilty pleasure! There are many other much healthier choices, IMHO. However, good pad thai is delicious, and as long as you eat it only occasionally and in moderation, I say go for it! |

I love Pad Thai. Its got plenty of bad things in it, but lots of good things too. I am so bad though - every now and then I get an order of Pad Thai and an order of Red Curry to go from a great Thai place and eat a helping of each for a few meals. On the bright side, I get at least 3 meals out of two entrees...... |

Ok trust me, I LOVE Pad Thai! But, when I order Pad Thai, I love to also get Drunken Noodles, and panang chicken. All told, probably fifty MILLION calories, but I love every last bite of it! Thank god my friends all like the same things so we can share in the guilt and pleasure!
Frankly, there are just some foods that are worth the splurge, and Thai definitely rates as one of those for me!

MMM... delicious. Not that healthy. Pretty fattening with peanuts, eggs, sugary noodles etc. Some redeeming values in the veggies-- but mostly carbs and not the good kind. Yummy though! |

Mellie, not to sidetrack this yummy Thai discussion, but weren't you the one who loves Ethiopian food too? I did end up going to Meaza on Columbia Pike in Arlington -- it was AWESOME. The entertainment was a hoot, food was fantastic. |

I think you are thinking of RHowell, I know she's a big fan. I like it too, but haven't had a lot of opportunities to try much of it. Meaza sounds good, I will have to try it! |

Yes, you must try it! Especially when they have entertainment, it was so fun! Two of the friends I went with had never had Ethiopian and loved it, the other two were old fans. Sorry for the mix-up! So hard to remember all the names on here when I never meet the faces! |

I make Pad Thai a lot at home and I can't imagine someone saying it's healthy...Delicious though, so that makes it okay.

Yum, I love pad thai. But I'm a lacto-ova vegetarian so I get it with tofu and egg. Speaking of thai food, my absolute fave is Spicy mint noodles. To die for. I would guess that it is "healthier" than pad thai. |
