The Kenmore Oasis is amazing. It has all the front load perks but it's a top load. 24 towel capacity!!!

I like that better because it doesn't capture that water between the drum.

I heasr the first generation ones had problems, like the mold from the water int eh seal. I just swipe one of my washed articles over the seal as I take them out to put in the dryer, that dries it off entirely. But maybe it's the new design? We have the next-generation Maytags, can't recall the name. Better than Neptunes. Made in Germany. Only had em since New Years but so far so good (amazing, actually, it used to take us up to two hours to dry, now it takes a half hour!!).

Just had a new Whirlpool washer and dryer installed this morning. Mine are basic. I have the first load going right now. :) Going to Mom's or the laundrymat for the last six weeks has gotten old. I'll let you know how they are in a few months.
I would have loved a higher end front load washer, the guy at Sears was telling me how much water they save. These were on closeout though, and my $ has run out.
I have to have some money left for my trip to St. John in two weeks. ;)

Allright BH2...now you're just showing off!!! :P :P :P *sigh* I want to come too!

I have had really BAD luck with Kenmore. We bought a new high-end front load HEAVY duty washer and dryer and a new fridge four years ago. They've ALL had to be repaired. One was covered under the warranty (fridge,,,but it took THREE weeks to get the part and get it fixed). The washer is a huge headache.

Everyone I know says Kenmore is the best, My Mom's machine is 15 years old and still washing beautifully. I think I just have bad luck!

Before the Kenmore we had a pretty simple Amana washer and dryer. Stainless tubs. LOVED them! Simple but efficient.

I have that snazzy, jazzy LG model listed on previous page.

My advice? Don't get it!!! Personally I think it is way over rated and really darn expensive. I don't like mine (can'tcha tell!)

The big selling point on these babies was I could wash my king size comforters, blankets etc with no problem. truth is, they barely fit, they take 3 washings to even get fully wet, they can't rinse well in there and then, drying time is about 6 hours (many multiple cycles).

There is nothing "wrong" with ours...it just ISN'T what they advertise these babies to be. Small or "normal" size loads do just fine but for barn dirt, you really do need to use the "heavy" cycle and it takes FOREVER. Ditto on drying a large load of thick towels.

So, that's my not so glowing report on the LG's. I still shake my head head when I think about what we shelled out for them. :duh:

On a more positive note, my husband does like the controls and he DOES do MUCH more laundry!!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Maybe they weren't such a bad investment after all..... ;)

I have the Maytag Epic and it's wonderful! It's also good for second floor laundry rooms, where the LGs must be on the first floor otherwise the spin cycle shakes the house. Maytag used to be made in Korea, and those are the ones to stay away from. Maytag was purchased by Whirlpool and now they are made in Germany and are a far superior product to older models.

I have had the Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer set for almost 6 years and they are wonderful. They work even better now that I'm on city water.

I also have a Maytag Neptune front loader and NEVER AGAIN!

I've had it for a few years and the mold, stink, ugh.

I always have to keep the door open, and am constantly running, bleach, vinegar, affresh, you name it to try to keep my clothes from smelling like mold.

I wish it would break so I could go back to a top loader. :brickwall:

eta this one was not one of the first generations (that were later recalled.) This one came out later and the mold problem was supposedly "fixed". NOT.

We have a whirlpool duet set too and they are great. Love them, easy to operate, and the drawers underneath are really nifty to hold things that need to be ironed later. It's not super super large, I would probably have to run my heavyweight a couple times to get it clean, but it can handle most things with no problem.

Really? My dryer is fine, but my washer has broken more times than I can remember.(And no, I don't use it for horse stuff. I actually have a separate, much less expensive washer I use for horse stuff that works just FINE). Last time they had to replace the entire insides on the Duet washer. I'm glad it was still under warranty then! Now it no longer is and if it breaks again, I'm trashing it. I love the concept of the front loader, but mine has been a nightmare.

Oh, and I've had the mold problem too.

I have clean clothes again! Never thought I'd get so excited about being able to do laundry...but I was breathing down hubby's neck while he was installing them. We decided to go with the Samsungs, which are a lot like the LG...they just happened to be a smokin' deal at Lowes.

So far they are great!
