Ok I need some help deciding whether to use black or white boots on my gray. He's one of those almost white grays, his hind legs have more gray but not dark, his front almost all white. He's also not that big (could fit into pony boots if his bones weren't so solid) so boots are noticeable on him. I need to outfit him for cross country, which means full coverage boots all the way around. Black looks well, really black. Almost like putting white boots on a black horse, which I think looks better than black boots on an almost white horse? White is really white. But from a distance probably not as noticeable. I just don't want people to be like, "did she really put white boots on that almost white horse?" You know, kinda like wearing a brown belt with black shoes? Or even more accurately, wearing two shades of the same color! So, to all you fashion savvy horsey people out there, please tell me which you think is better. |

I personally prefer black to white as white is going to show dirt very easily. |

Agreed - black boots instead of white. I just purchased an almost-white-ish gray aswell...just haven't gotten him home yet. Is there some way you can use a colour? Like blue, or something? Even brown might look better. I know what you mean when you say the black is VERY black. But anyways, if you have to chose one of the two...I'd go with black.

I like black too. I think a really white boot might make an almost-white horse look sort of grey and dirty, even if he's not. |

I really don't like using white on any grey except a very dark one, as white always make the grey coats look dingy or yellowed in comparison no matter how clean they are. I think any shade of blue looks good on a grey. |

Agreed - any shade of blue. Light blue all the way down to navy if you want to stick with the darker look. Burgundy? Hunter green? Even red, if you want to be louder? Grey's are so versatile!

Eskadron also makes grey boots if you're interested. They are a medium grey so would provide some contrast but not as much as black. You can see them here: boots |

Black or navy. I happen to think that black on white looks really sharp.

I have a pair of white and black heidi boots for my dapple gray. I use the black ones on a daily basis at home because as others have said they hide the dirt. My horse is considered a "hack winner" so at horse shows when we are flatting around in the schooling ring I love to put the white ones on. They really stand out and make his flashy movement look even flashier. |
