I just got a pair of custom leathers made by Gary Mundy in Indiana. They just came in today and I LOVE them. They're beautiful soft leather without being delicate like the calfskin leathers I had, and he was able to make them in a custom length and hole pattern for me. They look and feel great, top notch. He even monogrammed them for me on the ends.

The cost? $51+ shipping! I am ordering pairs for everyone I know. Leathers this nice are rarely seen, and NEVER for that price. AND he threw in a monogrammed leather coaster for me! Customer service plus!

I'm so totally thrilled.

That sounds great, I need a new pair. Mine are all stretched out-I've had them since college and they don't match my Natural. I googled him-did you buy them on ebay?

Can you order them in a smaller width (thinner than one inch)?

I did get mine through ebay, but I have an email address for him if anyone wants it.

He had a pair of 7/8" leathers on ebay last week, so I imagine you can write to him and ask if he'll do them in a longer length. I was concerned that 1" would be too wide but the ones I ordered have creased edges and it really doesn't look wide at all.

I'll get some pics asap. I have to find my camera!

I ordered a pair from him. Very very happy with them.
Send him an email and he'll send you all the options you could want.
I ordered half inch (I think), nylon stitched, half holed. Lots of color options. He stamped my initials on the ends, and a little flower too.

Love them!
Found my pics, not so good pics, they are truly lovely though!

If he doesn't ship all the way up there...I'm sure you could send it to one of the people here in the US (that you know/trust) and have them ship it up to you.

I also have a pair of Gary Mundy leather. I like him, he's a great guy. The leathers are nice, but I sort of decided somewhere along the way that I really only like the calfwrapped nylon core type-- and his are plain leather so they're just sitting unused. He's a very good guy and good to work with. The quality is lovely.

Word to the wise, if you get your monogramm going side by side (rather than up and down) one side will always be upside down when you ride. This is just how it's done, but it irritates me. If I had know beforehand, I would have gotten my initials going up and down to avoid the issue. :)

Mine weren't shiny, just normal leather.

Mine are normal too, not glossy or lacquered.

Mine are also not stitched down the side, and I think they look great.

My initials are vertical as well. I am still looking for my camera (where did I PUT that thing) but I'll get pics of my new ones.

Off topic, but Jersey Fresh, I feel like I know you from somewhere...did you go to UMass and ride in Amherst?

I need thin leathers, I had courbettes that were 1" but they bugged me so I got ones that were about 3/4". I'll have to email him. I was thinking of getting the Beval Italia leathers but I'm too cheap to spend $120 on leathers.

soloudinhere-I went to UMASS for 5 yrs and rode in Amherst (Heartland Farm) until four years ago when I moved out here. did you?

I saw Diana a few months ago at WalMart in Hadley. She seemed to be doing really well with the sales horses. prior to that...I think I saw them at Northampton last year. Only two girls I didn't know all that well were with them, so I didn't catch up much.

Yeah she's doing really well. I've kept in contact and I try to get up there when I'm home and spend a few days with her and Beth. Next time I see her I'm dropping off a check to go shopping for my graduation present. May not even have to look outside the barn-she had three really nice suitable horses when I was there in Dec. :)
