Thanks BH2! My home was so trashed last August I had to rennovate. I really lucked out that a friend was laid off last fall and is a real handy man. So I told him I'd keep him busy for a year if he wanted. He has done everything but lay the new wood floors. He has done the ceilings and walls, laid tile and marble, replaced sinks, toilets, counters, painted, etc. Come spring it's on to replacing all the windows and repaint the house. Right now he's in the master bath painting, replacing the toilet and sinks, and laying the marble floor and vanity.
So between the house and the debt that the ex SO left, I have gone through the small inheritance from my parents - luckily my Bud is definitely giving me a huge break on the costs, but there is just so much work to do.
It's all good though - I so needed this purge and cleansing...

Josie loves her spot. When I'm sitting down there watching TV she's either in her spot or squezzed under the coffee table.

Well I have learned that despite all the incredible expense, it's all worth it have a house you love to come home to.
Keep up the good work

I missed this the first time around, but I'm glad I caught it this time. Everything looks great! A fresh living space for a fresh start

It really is amazing how much a cheery remodel can do to lift the spirits.

Thanks WaySide and BH2 -

the best part of this is that friends are starting to drop over again - and now we don't have to sit outside on the stoop, we can actually spend time inside.....

Yesterday was a rainy good for nothing day, so I spent the day painting the little "sun room" at the back of my new house. The yellow is a little much where it runs into the blue kitchen, so I'm going to repaint that blue kitchen wall the lighter shade of yellow that the living room will eventually be. It should all come together nicely then. Ignore the patch of color next to Abby's portrait, it's an old color that I tested there and hated.
The results of my hard work:

Love to see everybody's hard work looking so good.

BH2, is that a Jotul stove I see there? I love that yellow!

Wow OTF, you have a sharp eye  The stove is a Jotul, I found it on Craigs list locally for less than half the price new. I painted the beaded board behind it a dark color to really make the stove pop out, which it does. I truly wanted a real wood stove, but issues with space, allergies, etc. made the propane a much more logical choice for me. I have oil heat as well, but I have hardly used it all winter. The Jotul will keep the entire house at 72 on even the coldest days! Too warm sometimes, and way to warm for sleeping. I turn it off at night and set the thermostat to 60, and the oil heat kicks in then. I have only used a half a tank of oil since November. Of course, propane is also expensive, the tank is about 2/3's down now since it was filled at the beginning of December. So the house is certainly proving to be easy to heat.
Cocoa's bed in front shows she loves it too, although the my couch gets more use than her bed!

bh2, I agree, that cheery yellow is fabulous in your sunroom, and the burgandy around the stove really does make it pop out. Lovely work!

WOW - very nice BH2!

Looks fantastic - LOVE the sunroom - it's so bright and cheery. A great place to sip a cup of coffee early in the morning....

I really like that blue color - my master bath is currently being ripped apart and they've painted the walls pretty much that color.

I love the Jontule stoves - Hoping to get one for my bedroom - once we move onto that room......

   I LOVE that yellow, Miss Bri! The wee squid-o's room is painted a similar shade with trees and such all over. :) Oddly enough, one of her walls is a deep, periwinkle blue with a large Moon painted on it. Perhaps your blue wall just needs a big old moon on it??? :P

Keep up the good work! Can't dance and it's too wet to plow as my Dad used to say. :innocent:
