I have a filly that I have for sale. She can not be reg, I have not at any time said that she can or that she is reg. Here is her ad and this is the emails a lady has sent me with my responds. Please understand that I am not ask much for her I won't even cover the cost of her stud fee. But I need to get her gone. Could some one tell me where I said that she is registered

AD: Breed: Warmblood Quantity: 1 Price: 750.00 obo
Hann/SF/TB cross, 2007 filly, breed for jumping, will be 16.+ hh when done growing.

her: Hello, could you please provide some more information on your filly for sale along with some pictures? Thank you for your time.

me: There is not to much to tell she is jumper blood lines and is a weanling/yearling so has no training as of yet she is not halter broke as I was in an accident last fall and have not been able do so. She does come right up to people. Here is the link to some photos of her when she was 7 weeks old. she is much darker in her winter coat and I think she will be a dark bay when she is done. As well as a copy of sire and dam lines.

Her: Hello and thank you for getting back to me. Just a couple more questions. I take it that she can be registered? Where are you located? When would it be possible to come up and take a look at her? Is there a possibility of getting some current pictures? Has she been weaned? Are you firm on your price to a good experienced show home? Thank you for your time and have a great day!

Me:Her price reflexs the fact that she is not able to be registered. We are just outside of Leduc, AB. I am away this coming weekend but I am home all week. I weather is not the best right now and doesn't look to be any better till next week. But if you would like to come this week that is fine.

Her: Hi again, I'm confused as to why she cant be registered if both parent's are ? Or at least as Canadian sport horse?

Me:She can not be registered because both parents are not registered.

Is it just me or am I missing something. this is why I hate selling horses, I am tired of putting up with dumb people. She is a great price and very well breed but her dam is not registered and so with out jumping through hoops to get papers I am not spending money to get her registerd. Why do people think that they can get a horse for next to nothing. :brickwall: :mallet: :argh:

I am going through the same frustration!!!!! I vow never to sell one again (Yes, I have vowed this before!)

I get, "Can you bring the horse to me to see?" Very simple answer: NO.

If you are interested, come see him. Make an effort. No, you cannot have him on trial before you even see him. Yes, I now have a video, and I will send it to you, but you still have to come to him the first time. He does not go on trial for you to see if you like him. You come to him. That is how sales work.

I work full time and I will not spend my weekends trailering the horse all around to people who are interested, but not enough to get into the gas efficient cars and come see him!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hijack your vent. You are not alone!

I'm very sorry that you feel that you're hearing from dumb people, and I'm sure that many of them are, in fact, dumb. This buyer, however, I don't see as particularly dumb. She asked reasonable questions about information that was not in the ad. To be honest, I think you've created WAY TOO MUCH work for yourself by having such a succinct ad. Just a few more details added would save you a lot of inquiry e-mails and weed out buyers like this. Crucial details like "Not yet halter broke" and "Price reflects filly's inability to be registered" should really be in the ad itself. And as frivolous as it may sound, details about her color and markings would be nice.

In this market, a $750 horse might be lovely and be the symptom of someone with financial troubles who just needs to get rid of the horse. Sure, you won't find a register-able Warmblood filly for $750 very often, but it can happen. This is not five years ago when cheap price meant cheap horse. I can't blame the e-mailer for inquiring--this is the sort of market where inquiring sometimes gets you a steal of a deal.

well for starters I only have her one site listed, there is not a lot of room for the ad content and I don't mind answering questions, I much perfer it that way because everyone has different questions. What gets me is that she asked so many times about her being registered. I said no she can't be. that should be all there is to it.

But I am sorry but if you can pick up a foal for under $750. with the breeding that this filly has then yes it is a steal. and I never said that I had to sell her due to "financial troubles"

For a horse priced that cheap, I would be wary about her asking if you would consider lowering the price for a good show home. What does she want her for $200? My goodness... A good show home should recognize the value.

If you're getting repeated questions, I would go ahead and put that info in the ad. I understand that you want to keep the ad short, but as it stands the ad gives almost NO information. No bloodline info, no personality, no training info, no location (?), no movement info (can't tell if she's hunter or jumper type), no info about the dam, no color-- very little. Remember you only have 30 seconds to make a first impression on the buyer and make them contact you. If I was shopping for a foal, I'd probably click right by because all I know is that you have a 2007 filly that is a mixed breed of average size. That's probably not enough to get you the kind of bites you're looking for by placing an ad.

You can still keep thing short and get useful info out there. For example:

2007 Hann/SF/TB bay w/white filly out of unregistered 16.1 hunter mare (by Jack Frost) with great temperment. Sire is unreg. 16.0 Hanno "Landfair" showing A circuit jumpers. Filly has mom's great temperment. Not halter broke, but easy to handle. Expected to mature 16+. Suited for hunters, flat mover. Alberta. Asking $750 obo

That does sound frustrating! I am in the position of being a buyer right now, and I can feel for you. I try to be as open and positive when contacting a seller, but I can sometimes feel them becoming frustrated with me. I find that too, sometimes over email the tone-of-voice is not always clear, so some people read it the wrong way.

Although, I have dealt with some seriously annoying sellers, too! I am looking for a packer, and I contact about one horse who sounds amazing. Email her with a bunch of questions, get answers, everything looks great! Horse is supposedly sound, not spooky, trucks around a 3' course. Price reflects all of this.

I get there and the horse rears. Horse spooks a handful of times at nothing. During one of the spooks, horse takes a bad step and limps away. After rider has almost fallen off at least twice, horse is lathering up and sweating like a pig from this very obviously stressful situation, the trainer turns to me and says:

"Isn't he great? Would you like to get on?"

And this was no short drive. :o So the frustrations can definately go both ways.

Hope everything works out for this filly and you, though! You sound like someone I would prefer to be dealing with.
