Five years ago, after two failed attempts at using outside stallions (Clydesdale and TB), we bred our purebred Clydesdale mare to our own little Arab/Stationbred stallion. When he was 18 months old we sold him to a friend. Yesterday I visited him (he lives locally so I see him reasonably regularly) but I took my camera. Thought I would share the shots as I think he is just so cute!

I am actually in the process of trying to buy him back. You can see from his weight that he does not get very much work and the people who I bought his mum from have expressed an interest in taking him on to do SJ and SH. As this family are very accomplished young riders, campaigning their past and present horses at grand prix level, it would be awesome for me to see him under such capable riders. I am crossing my finger's here!!! They certainly see something in him that they like :)

Anyway, here he is. I know he is not exactly your classic type and is far from perfect but I just adore him and he is power personnifed in the flesh, not to mention he has a brain and a personality that is just to die for :)

Now, try to picture him with pulled mane and tail, clipped feather and 100kg lighter :P - Hopefully I will be able to add those photos in a few months, perhaps even with him showing off the tight little knees that I am sure he must have

NZLL, what a little powerhouse he is! Maybe not so little? How tall is he? Love his feathers and his expressive face, lovely head. As usual, you've taken some wonderful photographs.

Mid-summer there...is it dry where you are?

HiYa OTF and thanks :) - He's about 16.1HH. We did an impromptu measure with some tape yesterday. He's about as broad as he is high too.

Yes, mid summer and things are burning off. We are so lucky where we live though and are greener than anywhere else around these parts. The paddocks about 5 km for here are literally dust bowls - the difference between there and here is quite amazing and people who visit always comment on it. We're just grateful that we had the foresight to choose this property out of all of those we looked at 9 years ago :)

I thought I should pop a photo of mum and of dad on here too to demonstrate the combination and how he really is such a mix of both parents ...

He was born the weekend of a very big car race in Australia called Bathhurst. It is a race between V8 Supercars made by Holden and Ford. That year Holden won and so Holden was named :)

Thanks for your nice words :)
