So, that's what I am hunting for... anyone have any suggestions? Durability and comfort are my priorities. My budget is ~$300. Thanks! |

It sounds like the Ariat Challenge boots might be right up your alley: http://www.ariat.com/products_detail.aspx?...scid=258&pid=55. I've had mine for a couple years and like 'em. |

The dover pros on clearance for $299 in the Dover catalog are much nicer than the challenges...I love mine and just ordered a spare pair. If they seem like they'd fit you, i'd jump on those ones. |

I believe what Dover calls their Pro Field boots are actually Rectiligne Marylands, which I have. I bought them a few months ago from the tackstore at $299. I love them. |

They have wides, which is what I love...the boot comes in wide but is only 17 1/4" tall instead of like the 18.5" that everything else is... |

I tried a pair of Rectiligne boots on when I was boot shopping, and really liked them as well, but my feet and lower legs are kind of freakishly sized, so it was a no go. If I could have gotten a pair that fit in all the places at once, I'd have given them a go, though. The last pair of boots I owned was a pair of inexpensive Devon Aire field boots, and I found them to be comfortable, and they lasted almost 15 years before it got to the point that I was having the soles re-glued on repeatedly. Plus they never were the right size to begin with. I have a somewhat long calf and a very short wide foot, so by the time the boots were tall enough and wide enough, there was a ton of air space out in front of my toes <_< |

Wow, I have been really underwhelmed by the Rectiligne boots I've looked at. Do they make different lines? |

If you can pay up to $300 you may not consider these, but I have them for schooling. I always school in jeans, so I needed something that was wider across the calf to fit them in. I have a pair of EquiComfort feilds with the zippers, they were about $175 and have lasted me almost three years - they're great! I also have the Ariat Heritage for showing, but I find they're tighter around the calf - but very comfortable! |
