Any news snaffle???
Luna's dam had EPSM (PSSM). We never did do the muscle biopsy, but the vet was pretty positive she had it based on her symptoms over a long period of time. We made the switch to the low carb/high-fat diet (from Dr. Valentine) and it fixed the symptoms completely within few months time. We had to play around with some things a bit to find the right mix. We used alfalfa pellets, corn oil, vitamin E, beet pulp, Black Oil SUnflower Seeds and Flax for the "feed" portion and she received free-choice coastal hay as well as alfalfa. She was also out as much as possible. |

Thanks for asking, Jill. The muscle biopsy came back negative. It was so weird...all the symptoms really pointed to EPSM.Per my other thread, I did a bone scan this week. Turns out it's his neck and elbow, coupled with being really back sore. Who knew? He got his neck and elbow injected this week and will get shock wave on his back some time soon. In the meantime, I want to talk to my BM about keeping him on a low carb/high fat diet. My vet says it can help calm some horses, and Miller could certainly use that! |

I'm glad you figured out what's going on, snaffle. *JINGLES* for Miller! I'm a believer in the diet. It's done nothing but good for the horses I've had on it. BUt hey, that's just me!
