I need suggestions for a barn in the Lisle/Naperville IL area. I show my guy in the A/O hunters and will also need a situation with a competent trainer who can do him in the 2nd years. Here is the catch. I want a situation where I am going to have access to a trainer at the home barn. I will have a full time job and limited ability to show (a few shows a season, not able to go weeks at a time anywhere!). I don't want a trainer who is going to winter in FL leaving me to my own devices ;). Or if they do, I need an assistant trainer who stays at home who is not going to be just as bad as leaving me to my own devices I would also like a place with good turnout. My guy needs turnout, no exceptions. And if anyone has general information about the area, I would appreciate hearing it. I am thinking about relocating and know nothing! Suggestions about good places to look to live would also be welcomed. I don't mind living outside of Lisle/Naperville as long as the commute isn't insane. |

Well you got some good advice from tob but naperville and the surrounding area is high priced living... I'm not sure what exactly you looking for but you are going to have to go further south or west of there to find more reasonably price living accommidations. And traveling on the I88 or 355 is always a pain in the ass. Travel times south of the city are worse than north. Do you already have a job in the area or are you hoping to find a job? |

I would look at Judgement Farms. They are affordable and Lori Hollands is always there to train at home. She goes to the shows too but if they go to FL Tina Judge would probably go and Lori would stay. Its a great farm. There are a ton of nice people and its very horse friendly. There is good turnout and a lot of it for the Naperville area. Let me know if you need more info! Good luck! Plus they have a really great A/O horse you could show with. His name is Trust Me owned by Shannon Kelly. Look him up to see his record! That will tell you a little about the barn by the results. |

Since it sounds like you need to find housing for you & your horse, I would see if you can get somewhat in close proximity to each other (obviously it will depend what the financial end is). I agree that what looks close together on paper could be a 45-60 minute drive. I would definitely try to come out & drive around the area some so you can get a feel of what "close" is & where things are. |
