Is the meadow on fire?

I had a great time in St. Louis! Loved almost everything about the show. Miller was really good for my trainer in the conformation hunters...but he got last in the model class. Miss Trainer thinks he needs to fatten up a bit.He got a couple of ribbons over fences...which is a new thing for us! This is her favorite picture. She calls it his Stallion Picture. Mills in the 1st Years I took him in the Adult Eq on the Flat on Friday and he was a complete idiot. Id.i.ot. He was racing around the ring at a million miles an hour. I had to slam his nose into the wall for the walk transition. I rode him for another hour after the class, then rode him AGAIN for an hour later that evening. He relaxed quite a bit and was really great on Saturday and Sunday. We moved up to 2'9"...I know that doesn't sound like a big deal, but I've been showing at 2'6" for the last three years, so I was pretty pleased. Funny story...they posted the courses for Ring 1 early in the afternoon. I can run the finance department for a multi-million dollar company, but it takes me all day to learn a course of 8 jumps. Single, five stride, 4 to a 1 (gulp), blah, blah, blah. I worried all afternoon about that damn 4 to a 1. So, I go in the ring. I ride the single, canter down the five, come around the corner, jump in the four nice and bold, look up....where's my in and out????? Apparently they changed the course!!!! I have NO IDEA how long this line is. So, I thought, I'll just keep riding till I get to the jump. Brilliant plan! Got there in a short seven...oops! I bet that was supposed to be a six. Um, yep, it was. Overall it was a hugely successful horse show for me. My horse totally got it together in the 1st years. I gained a ton of confidence. And I finally figured out how to let go in the air. Here are a couple of pics.... trying to let go actually letting go again trying to let go |

What an amazing shot in the 1st years! Your pictures are awesome too! It would have been nice if they got a shot of you at the same angle. That horse has so much presence! Much continued success! ![]() FOF... love your avatar!

Awesome pictures and horse. If he keeps jumping like that, you may need to purchase him a chin guard. Wow! |

Aw, thanks! He's a Hanoverian, but he's not that young. He'll be 10 in March. But he only started jumping two years ago when my trainer brought him over from Germany. |

Honestly, that picture kind of freaks me out a bit. I swear, if the horse jumps like that with me, I'm likely to fall off. I did buy a copy for Miss Trainer, though. She dropped some major hints that she'd like a copy...as in she dragged me to the photo place and said 'that would look really nice on my dresser at home'. |

You look fantastic, and WOW that first picture. I have to say I hated counting strides and found it far easier not having to worry about that. Just going off your eye. Yes, really old here.   |
