Has anyone taken a look at what's happening with HITS Culpeper in 2008? It looks like they're finally doing some maintenance and they have a new ring layout. It looks like it's going to be much better. I can't wait to see it in April.

Wow! Looks like it might be a more pleasant place to show...we go all the time because of the convenience factor. |

That does look promising indeed. Like the idea of the Hunter Classic on Saturdays, but depending what time it's held it could go way earlier than the AOs usually end up running. Should be nice to have the microtel and Hampton Inn opening up. It's such a pain to try to find summer rooms if you havent booked a year in advance! |

Do you think they could fix the weather while they're at it?! I swear, at the August show I thought I was literally going to melt! |

Not that I'm interested, but how about the equitation classic? Finally, adults can do a 3'6" eq. class if they want. It really is nice to see HITS finally paying some attention to the redheaded stepch... I mean Commonwealth Park. I don't think it needs additional classes, but I do think it's a step in the right direction. |

I'd be happier with improved water pressure/wash pads and improvements to the barns, flooring/roofing.... We always go, always grumble, oh well. More classes don't do it for me, but if I was showing would be happy. Sure it will be raining & or freezing in April. |

I agree with you Casualsgirl...the water pressure is less than desirable at Culpeper, but i'm optimistic that they are at least looking at ways to make it a better experience...have to laugh at the way they worded the improvements to the stabling area though...that was amusing.. |

Will have to go check out the info. 3'6" eq sounds cool. I agree with the comments on water needing to be a priority. |

So NOW they decide to add in the eq class?
I'm a day late and a dollar short, as always. Seriously, I think it's a great idea.

Isn't "Jumper Ring 1" just the old Annex ring? Either I'm going crazy or there are the same number of rings, just switched around. Nothing sucks worse than spending 25 minutes washing off soap. |

Sadly I don't think the water pressure will improve (though it would be a very welcome and pleasant suprise!). My friend's boyfriend is a plumber and has done work on the property. When I inquired, he basically told me that it would take a major renovation in order to fix the water issues. And call me cynical, but somehow I don't see that happening... |

My best guess is that when the Park was built they put in too small of a diameter pipe...for a standard at-home farm with house and barn you should really have 2.5"+ pipe...and obviously quite a bit larger pipe for a facility the size of Culpeper in order to provide enough pressure for everywhere. So to fix it you'd really have to rip out all of the old pipe and install new ones. As staceyme said, I don't see it happening either. |
