CS, do you teach driving? You're fairly close to me, I think, somewhere near Belwood?

DH & Cindy do most of the teaching now, but we sure do Train both Equines and Drivers.

Hi, everyone. I'm a very new beginner, just out of totally new. I'm learning to drive with the help of a friend and her donkey - Teaspoon. Teaspoon is a male donkey about 3 years old and a delight to work with. I'm learning about donkeys as I learn driving. Teaspoon has definite opinions about the way things are supposed to be and sometimes we get to laughing so much, we let him have his way.

Pardon me on any faux pas in writing. I'm new to this board as well.

Ooooo, ooooo, Dixies Mom, welcome! And a donkey person yet! Teaspoon, he is a mini? You must share some photos.

And since you're new, I'm supposed to remind you to read the Charlie the Unicorn thread in The Hayloft. The Face Book is also one of my favorites...even though it's long, you'll get to see the people who are posting on The Outside Course. This is a lively group of people who share their good times and their not so good times, but manage to stay friendly and supportive through it all (at least that's my take on it).

Again, welcome to TOC!

Hey .... :one: Welcome aboard Dixies Mom!
We don't have any Donkeys or Mules here on the farm at present, but have trained a Mammouth Mule, and a few Mid Size Donkeys for Driving.
Found them very easy to work with, but occasionally if the Mule decided to throw herself into stubborn mode, DH always had a treat in his pocket. (Somehow once she had her mind on something different, she would always go straight back to working. DH always said.... :P "once you are smarter than they are, ya got it made!" Too many folk seem to think the stubborn means slow.....but we found them extremely intelligent and loving.

Hey.... :one: We love photos here, if you have any to share!

Thanks for the suggestions on newby readings. Will do. I think Teaspoon, the donkey, is a mini and I will get some pictures. I was thinking just yesterday that I need to get some photos, so this will move me on.

I have a 8 year old QH mare - Dixie - who will be my driving horse, once I've learned what to do and not do and once she has learned her stuff, too. I had planned to ride Dixie, but before I could get a saddle to fit her wide, wide, back, I had one-too-many falls on my helmeted head and was ruled off the riding field. So, we are going to drive.

I love discussion forums like this because I learn so much and meet so many great people.

Thanks again.
