Great article about Virginia Bred and the Otteridge Legacy. Also an awesome ad! Ponybreeder has a wonderful stallion, Romany River Talisman. I saw this one in person and the ad does not come near to doing him justice! And RH... He's bay! ![]() But... I did think the issue was "not as thick" as in past years....

I'm sure the dent from being "not as thick" is making far more of a dent than the $6.53 refund they're sending my way. If I want to observe bizarre cultural floggings, I'd prefer it to come with pretty pictures--my Christmas subscription from granny is changing to National Geographic. I'm curious what would happen if I bred my mare to a really tiny pony stallion...she's got the pony genes in there, so she could throw a pony...or a hony...i don't care as long as it's bay [Myself]

BTW, heard that the lovely Mea Gold Card is going to get bred this coming year....I forgot to ask whether they've picked a stallion yet. I need a pony broodmare...and a midget to back the babies. Anyone offering a package deal on a pony broodmare and midget?![]() |

I'll ditto on "Toby" - he is just stunning and if my Mumsy were more "modern" in type (as opposed to big honking WB in type ) she'd be having a date with him for the perfect Small Junior! And the best part? He is an absolute DOLL to be around! I just love him, and am so excited he's going to be in VA - I WILL be going up to visit!!! My funny Toby story is that when we were doing the jumping photos, we were all laughing because he yanks his knees up so high and tight and he is so round, you can barely see them in the photos! I made PB promise that if she ever finds a horse sized mare just like him she'll give it to me. And I should be getting that one right about the time I get Super Trooper in a 16h version!
The article on Mrs. Beckman and the whole fam-damily was great as well. It's always a pleasure to read about family legacies that revolve around horses - and especially when they involve one of our own! ('One of our own' meaning VaBred - not one of our own horses) |

Thank all of my peeps on here for the nice words on the article!!! When Mollie (from COTH) called and said she wanted to do an article on mother/daughter breeders, and Trisha suggested us, we were so excited and proud to have been chosen. Growing up with Mom as my mentor has been such a wonderful experience, and I'm so fortunate. Learning from so many of the old horsemen and women that have gone on to greener pastures was also due to being in the right place at the right time, and none of their insight will ever be taken for granted. Lovely pony stallions in the issue and it's so easy to see why Virginia is the pony capital of the world!!!

Agree with Silver Bells-- as issue is not very thick. Not enough pony breeding articles. I was quite disappointed in the pony breeding issue last year also. |
