Ok - so what do you wear when you body clip so you don't end feeling like a Yeti with dermatitis? Turtleneck? Raincoat? Nylon track jacket? Do you wear a bra?

I am so excited. I used my birthday money to get a pair of Lister Star clippers. This'll be the first time I've body clipper without using Osters. No hair flying? What a concept ...

So what is the number/code for the replacement blades for the Lister Stars?

Also, if you're doing a trace or hunter clip, how do you make your tracing lines for the saddle area or "blanket" area clean and exact? I always get frustrated and end up doing a whole body clip? Going against the hair doesn't seem to work. Do you have to go with the hair?

I've never clipped a horse, but from my dog clipping experience, there IS NO way not to feel like a Yeti with dermatitis! I'm not allergic to dogs, but once while clipping my own dogs I actually broke out in small hives - I think all that dander flying is what really makes you itch - not the hair. So I'd wear what makes you comfortable and be ready for a shower immediately afterwards!

Good luck!

I wear a windsuit and a bandana or baseball cap, and always keep a couple of towels handy. You will LOVE the Listers, they are so much lighter and faster than the Osters.

I used my Andis and the T84 blade, first time clipping my guy. He turned out great! I did have help with his head, evening and cleaning it up.
I wore a turtleneck and jeans. Changed my shirt right after we were done.
Be sure to keep a few towels to wipe your face off!
Here we is :)

Mrs Darcy - the only advice I have is:

spit out your chewing gum NOW! :P
and leave off the lip gloss/Chap Stik/lipstick <_<

eye protection is a must if wearing contact lenses

fleece anything is a poor choice of clothing :o

2hs - beeeee-u-teeful work lady!!!

I confess, I love clipping horses. I know, it is a sickness, but I love it. When I still ran the farm, I used to clip all the schoolies and the show horses. That was about 20 by the time it was all said and done.

So here is what I learned.

Fleece is a no go. So are sweatshirts. and so are jeans or track pants. I found that all of those have sticky issues when it comes to hair.

I always wear my nylon rain pants, the light weight ones because I will always sweat. I wear a light t-shirt undernath a light pullover style nylon rain jacket. It does not have to be waterproof, just stick proof.

Have a couple of bottles of water handy, a small step stool and some sort of safety eye wear. As far as my head, I usually wear either nothing or a baseball cap.

If I am body clipping, I try and take a break between sides. it makes it easier for all of us involved. If I have to have a horse tranqued, I go as fast as I can and usually only do a trace clip or a blanket clip.

As soon as I finish I go home, strip in the foyer and then have a shower. I wash all of my clipping clothes at least twice to make sure I have all of the little hairs out! As far as undergarments, I always wear a tight fitting sports bra so I don't get too many hairs there. Undies, usually cotton!

The key I found was get outta the clothes as quickly as possible. I did not get the itchies that way.
