Perhaps the breeder was just disappointed in the five foals that they had and was expressing that disappointment?

While I understand your point, this was not the case with this breeder/SO. In fact, she bragged to some that these were the best babies that she produced.

Believe the bashing was nothng more than her being a ***** and to cause the SO she was bashing to suffer.

Wait a minute. You started a thread entitled "Why do breeders bash other breeders?" Fair enough. And then, when people give possible reasons, you say that those reasons aren't accurate, and that you know what the reasons are. So, what was the point of this topic then? Just trying to stir the pot perhaps?

I personally have heard quite a few stallion owners be critical of other stallions. Popeye K seems a popular one to be critical of, currently Westporte is getting it a bit, and up here in Ontario sometimes it seems people want to bash Asher. All three of them are lovely stallions, generally proven at, or producing at a "higher" level than the stallion owned by the person bashing them, I wonder if that has something to do with it :teehee:

What I find greatly amusing is that I have a mare in foal to Westporte...yet people still bash Westporte when talking to me :psycho: I think they're calling me a dummy :shoot: ;) but I'm pretty sure that when my Westporte x Rio Grande baby arrives I will take pleasure from doing this :nyah:

Because since the time of my original post, I have received additional information which led me to my conclusion. Not trying to stir any pot other than the soup I have to make for Thanksgiving.

BTW, I think your Westporte/Rio Grande baby will be awesome.

Some can call it low self esteem, I might like to call it uneducated.
Because good stallions can and do come in all shapes and sizes.
When folks want to make one certain type the rule, then all others are considered less desirable and don't fit the mold. To me, that shows a lack of education.
Those who are bitter towards another need to learn that what may work for one may not necessarily work for all.
Just my two cents worth, if it's even worth that... :P

jparkes - well said! Alas, discussing stallions - those we like and don't like - always seems to get tetchy, no matter who is doing it!

I just wish I had a pony mare after looking at that knockout pony stallion Chardonnay
