I sold a very lightly used Electro Groom for $325.00 on the Virginia Horse website. The first person that called bought it.

Well, you are all going to kill me. I have two Electro-Groom machines which together cost me
a bit over $100 used. The manufacturer, Electric Broom Company, is not far from here in
Osseo, Wisconsin. They sell the same machine to dairy farmers but label it Dairy Vac.
When old dairy farmers retire, they have dispersal auctions and all their machines as
well as animals are sold (usually). So Dairy Vacs are not an unusual item in the auction.

I once asked a salesman for the Electric Broom Company who was at a trade show exactly
what was the difference between the ElectroGroom and the Dairy Vac. His answer; the paint
job and one brush. He offered to sell me the brush. The company will also refurbish old
machines for a customer if you find a used machine and want to put it into excellent working
order. They might have a used machine around at their plant which they could refurbish
and sell. Call them (715-597-3181) and ask. Oh, I see in the phone book that they have
updated themselves and are now called the Electric Cleaner Company <g>.

You do know that these machines are very heavy and make an amazing amount of noise
when in use, yes?

Well, Smart Pak doesn't carry the Electro Groom brand, but they do carry the Vac'n'Blo Pro which is $256.95 and the shipping should only be their standard $6.95 flat rate. Don't know how good that brand is though. Maybe somebody else knows?

If this is black and has a canister which is a cylinder, the vac sucks. A friend got one for x-mas from her hubby a few years ago and it was worthless...:(

Are there any responses from those who have researched the information and are willing to share it? I've found one that's $529/45$ shipping and that's the cheapest thus far.

Do you mind posting that source? Thanks!

Oh, Electro-grooms are the BEST. We have 2 of them. One works perfectly (and is newer)...the other only has 1 motor running (but is quite old), so isn't used much. I should probably take it somewhere to get it repaired. But they are an absolute must for all of the dark horses, especially on early AM hunting days. Brushing alone just cannot get all the dust out of their coats.

A friend got her vacuum at the MTE, for I think $350. I don't know if they have any currently, but couldn't hurt to ask.

I got the big Electro Groom for free from a friend who was going to throw it out! The cord was frayed, so I have replaced it. Might need a tune up, but reading these prices, I am happy I grabbed up on it before it went to the dump!

Do these things work for very dusty horses. My one mare always rolls in the big dust/dirt patch out in the pasture and other than a bath this stuff doesn't brush out. Plus we are going into the winter months and the farm only has an outdoor wash rack so would the vaccume be somthing that would work in this situation?

Nothing beats and ElectroGroom, IMO. If you can suck up the initial purchase price, they last forEVER, so ammortizing the price out over 10-20 years makes it not expensive, but a bargain! How's that for persuasion, Rachel??

Oh, I already bought one by the time I posted "too late" above--I've heard you sing their praises before LaurieP and you definitely walk to the right of me on grooming knowledge--I defer 100% to your knowledge--I was just trying to find the cheapest :-) but you'd converted me to a believer already--now if I could just master your wet clipping!

Ours was free! A local barn was being torn down to make way for development. My trainer saw the thing sitting in the corner of one of the old barns, covered in cob webs. They let her take it home. It has a little superficial rust, but otherwise works great.
