I am going to suck it up and buy an Electro-Groom Vac for the ponies. Has anyone researched where they are the cheapest? SHipping might also make or break the price too...so it may be the cheapest shipping on not the cheapest vac that it the best deal.

THanks in advance!

Where did you find it for that price?? I have been wanting one forever and always point them out in the catalogs to hubby as a gift idea. He always chokes at the price and says don't you have a shop-vac at the barn or use the sheep blower. I can see my horses with either of them! :(

I think LBB gets discounts through her better half who has a vet practice....otherwise I'm sure she would have been helpful and answered the question to help me out :P

Are there any responses from those who have researched the information and are willing to share it? I've found one that's $529/45$ shipping and that's the cheapest thus far.

Mom got one a month ago from Dover, I think it was about $599 or something crazy like that. It rules though, especially for a black horse!

LBB- reveal your source! :P

i called dover and they wanted 599 plus 54 shipping plus tax so that's not as cheap as my one source. I think i'll just ride them over to janet's for a vacuum!

Since Janet is easily bribed with cash (I know this, I am her daughter!) she would probably groom them up for you for a small fee! ;)

I finally had to ask her to cut the price tag OFF the Electro-Groom, she left it dangling for weeks because she was in sticker shock and excited, I had to remind her that my dad would see it and not be happy so she finally cut the tag off. It was like Minnie Pearl with her hats or something...

I think the Electro-Groom is actually an investment, they never lose their value and will probably outlive everyone! When I was a kiddo I remember going to Foxcroft for pony club camp and seeing the Electro-Groom, wondering what that strange blue box was, I think the same one is still there!

Maybe, maybe you could find one used? I saw one a very long time ago and was tempted to buy it. But how weird would it be for a boarder to show up with a vacuum? They are so spendy, but IHMO, having a vacuum is really nice and probably worth it over the long haul.

We've got a shopvac and use a electro-groom type attachment and it works quite well. And was about $60 for the whole thing.

I use to vaccum my pony with one of those hand vaccums that you plug in the wall. I got the one with the brushes all around the little bar. She loved it, stood there like a pampered brat, as I think it was like a massage to her. It was also very very loud, but she didn't care about noise at all, and was gloriously clean in 2 minutes tops!!!
However, I don't think my TB that I have now would have the same opinion. But any of you who have a thicker skinned, quiet warmblood...they are dirt cheap and pretty much do the same thing...

I'll keep out an eye for used ones. I wish I could remember where I saw one, but it's been so long it probably isn't there-- even if I can remember.

You need to use a car air filter on the thing to keep it from plugging up.

Electro Groom use to sell a vac that looked like a shop vac on steriods (also used a car air filter on it) it was about $300. I bought one and took it to the farm where my old guy was. When he died I left it there because I was never going to own another horse. HA! I wish I had taken it. My whirlpool tub and bubble plate are still there as well. Although I would like a Game Ready.

Well, Smart Pak doesn't carry the Electro Groom brand, but they do carry the Vac'n'Blo Pro which is $256.95 and the shipping should only be their standard $6.95 flat rate. Don't know how good that brand is though. Maybe somebody else knows?
