After reading info on the ISR/Old site, I'm a bit puzzled.
Can a foal out of a Thoroughbred mare who is approved mmb with ISR/Old, by a Thoroughbred stallion also approved for breeding by ISR be registered as an Oldenburg?

Yep. For instance my MMB TB mare could be bred to, say, A Fine Romance, and the resulting foal could be registered Oldenburg. |

As CRAZY as it sounds...YES...and if your in that situation..I say go and do it..now the foal in question will be papered as a TB with the Jockey club..and also have papers from the Oldenburg registry..complete with BRAND.. You say the mom and dad are already registered Old N.A...so you'd have to present the original breeding certificate, the foals JC papers, and make sure the mare is Current on registration with them..then find an Inspection in your area and go for it.. if the mare's dues are current..then 150.00..if not 330.00... Can you tell I was just there?!?!?! HH

The foal can ONLY be registered with the Jockey Club if the breeding was by live cover. If the semen was shipped and the mare was artificially inseminated - the resulting foal could NOT get Jockey Club papers. |

Sounds good to me, HoG! I think the ISR/Old NA should be commended for this, because they are breeding for a sporthorse 'type', not a specific breed. If both parents have been inspected and approved, then both parents meet the criteria of a modern sport horse type. |
