Ok, I'm bored right now and am waiting for the farrier, sooooo....I rode Paddy the other day without reins (just a neck rope) and Mr. Fishy took some jumping pictures. My instructor is always yelling at me to ride like I have a glass of water on top of my head - I tend to over-rotate over the jump. I thought that jumping without reins would help, but I'm not so sure how much it did. Also obvious to me is my crookedness and collapsing in my left ribcage. No matter what, my left stirrup always feels shorter (even if it is 3 holes longer!) and it drives me nuts! Probably contributes to my chronic back pain as well. Anyways, Paddy is a perfect boy and I'm so lucky to have him. We just wtc and jumped without the reins and he was like "ho hum, doo de dooooo". I heart my pony big time!

You look great...and check out Paddy doing his thing with that little tiny rope.
That would freak me out (and I've ridden horses 'on the wire' a la Foxfield, but your version still looks a little too 'free' for me  )I know what you mean about stirrups. I actually have to ask someone else if my stirrups are straight because my right one always feels significantly longer. My last lesson it felt about two holes longer and when my trainer checked for me...it was actually a bit SHORTER then the left.

Fish Cheeks! You look FANTASTIC! All the years I rode, I never did that, so I guess that's why I was concerned when you said you were doing the no hands thing. I am not kidding...you look strong, your head's up, you're neither ahead nor behind him, and I'm imagining a beautiful elbow to hand to mouth "release." Wow, great picture! You keep at it! (But be careful, okay?) |

Yup. I am the secret GM  . Many, many years ago (42 to be exact), GM came and observed our lesson (there were two of us). He even rode our horses for a while. Wish I remembered more about that day. |
