Ahhhh....
Just got back from a lovely amble across the river and through the woods with Project Pony Charlie. It's only 70° out today, but the sun is shining, the leaves are changing and the summer bugs are nowhere to be found. After spending 7 long years in the Land of Two Seasons (aka Arizona, where it is either Summer or Not Summer) I have a renewed appreciation for days like this. And Charlie was so cute...he can be a little tense in the ring, but as soon as he realized we were going on a trail ride, he heaved a big sigh, his head went down, and he went into trail pony mode, strolling along on the buckle.
Just had to share my lovely morning! :cloud9:

Aw, Chezzie, that sounds like the perfect day.

I miss trail riding. We don't have anywhere to go near my barn, but even if we did I'm not sure Miller would get 10 feet off the property without having a coronary. He spooked at a garbage can last weekend. A garbage can that he had passed several times earlier in the week. Ooh, scary scary garbage can.

Well, before we moved to the farm a few months ago, I hadn't been on a trail ride since I was a kid. And I was sure that my pampered little hunters would rather die than go traipsing off through the underbrush. But both boys love it. My trainer finds the thought of my fancy imported warmblood galloping through hayfields downright disturbing, :o but I know they both really look forward to our rambles.

I think trail riding is the absolute best thing for riders and ponies (well most of them anyways) minds, especially the ones that show alot, its like a de-stresser.

I too had a great trail ride yesterday with my good riding buddy, and my two horses. The weather was perfect, the trail was deserted, and the horses were great. It doesn't get any better than this! :)

Awwwww, I miss riding in Fall weather so much! I am so jealous of people who get to go on Fall trail rides. :sigh: Maybe the Great Pumpkin will bring me a horse this year. :luck:

I"ve been having the best fall rides the past few weeks. Last week, I went out with a young rider at our barn and her young gelding. Turns out it was the gelding's first ever 'trail ride'! So cute.
Yesterday, I was schooling in the ring. Walked out of the arena, out the barn, down the drive and through the gate, up the road, but had to turn back as the field was being worked. So we went back through the barn to the arena, picked up a trot the minute we hit the floor and straight back to jumping! It was so cute. My horse just *loved* it. I love having an arena we can ride in/out of. (And a horse I can trust to do that and doors/gates! :teehee: )
