We had a friend who turned 50 a few weeks ago. Mow, this is a friend who is near and dear to our hearts and who has expressed HUGE opinions over the years, which is of course, why we love him so.

He threw down the gauntlet recently and insulted my husband's favorite band, Rush. In another tye-raid, he commented about his distrust of men in kilts. I'm betting you can guess where this is going: :P

Keep in mind, his party was at a very upscale restaurant on the lake. :o

My hubby, btw, is 6'2" and our friend is 6'5". They made quite an imposing visage in their man-skirts and sporran (That would be the man-purse) marching in to Tom Sawyer blaring on the boom-box.

There was another party going on at the same time and as we glanced around my husband and I realized that it was our Zoology prof from COLLEGE!! We actually met in her class and had spoken of her often in the 18+ years since graduating. My hubby stood up in front of the crowd and gave an excellent impromptu speech about her and what an influence she had on our lives (and it's the truth!!). She cried and told us we made her whole party, Kilt and all! :)

Cute photos!

I have a funny kilt story. We had a friend who was honored at the MD State Firemans Convention this past June in Ocean City MD so we went to be supportive. Apparently all the fireman like to hangout at Secrets. So one of the many nights we were there so was this group of fireman from D.C. who wear kilts. So you know where this is going.....

After enough adult beverages and enough prompting from one of our friends from Shock Trauma I marched right up to one of the D.C. fireman in a kilt and point blank asked him what he had on underneath. He told me to look and I did. Yep he was wearing nothing. :teehee:

 :P  :P

I called him "Boo Butt" and "BOO-ty boy" all night long.

DQ, those were the kilts I made...from COTTON. In the photo of them from the back you can't make it out well, but those suckers are PLEATED to the sett. I really had fun making them and the sporran (man purses). That's a 4" foot long dog leash for the chain part of the sporran.

Some guy fro the UK approached them during the party and wanted to know if they had purchased their kilts overseas or from an importer here in the US. He gave me HUGE kudos!!!! :)
