We were lucky enough to get to show at the Silver Creek I and II (USDF) shows on September 6th-7th. We were also fortunate to have triple qualififed for the regional finals that took place on Sunday afternoon. My boy didn't show his best-he is so laid back anyway and he was down-right lazy at this show, so no big trotting for him! However, he had a fantastic year and that is just how things go sometimes. He did manage to score a 78.9 under judge Gen. Jonathan Burton who gave him a 9.6 for his conformation score. All weekend long people kept referring to him as "the hunter" because he was so quiet and trotted like he was in the hunter ring. Anyway, we had a great time at Silver Creek! The facility is drop-dead gorgeous, the organization of the show was great and there was wonderful attention to detail. Even though it rained A LOT and my horse was a lazy bum  , I am still so glad we got a chance to go (it was my first trip to the finals in my very short breeding career)! Pam Norton took the photos and did an great job considering that we were inside and it rained most of the weekend! I can't wait to get this guy going under saddle next year and to get him in the jumper ring in a few years! ![]()

That's what I'm "afraid" of !!!! I went straight from doing the western stuff as a kid to becoming addicted to the jumpers in college. I've never shown a hunter, heck, I don't even think I've ever ridden a "hunter" ! I'm not complaining; he's so quiet and sweet that he's great to work with, I'm just not sure he has a "speed" gear  . So if he turns out to be more of a hunter I'll have to either turn over a new leaf, or pay someone else to show him! This is where my husband would chime in with "you could sell him, remember we're breeders and everything on the farm is supposed to have a "price" on it; remember ?!" And then I try to explain to him that since we haven't been breeding long and we want to build a good reputation that we should keep some of the nice prospects and get them into the show ring ourselves (you know, to start getting some name recognition) which means we can keep this one
! Somehow, he doesn't buy this.Anyway, thanks for the compliments, this horse is a sweetie and whatever he turns out to be I'm hoping he will excel at it! |

I don't think you would have any shortage of volunteer hunter riders for him. He is seriously stunning. Who knows, you could always give the hunters a shot and see if you like it! With such a nice horse, I can't imagine that it wouldn't be fun for you! |
