I also wean at 5-6 months like Fosseloverfences unless there is a medical reason. I don't think the babies do as well if they are weaned earlier. |

Lexie was given a sedative befor we loaded her. Once out of earshot, she settled right down. She gets that cute droopy eared look when she is doped - I could see her through the front window of the trailer, and she stayed pretty sedate for a good 3-4 hours. It was dark by the time I got home, but she settled into her stall right away. She is next to my other big girl Raewanda. They look VERY similar (how to play games with the barn help ) except Lex is fatter , and not fit, and missing her tail. Anyway, Lex and Rae sniffed, squealed, and then went back to their hay.Same sock and similar blaze (and some similar quirks). I am going to need to sleep for a week to make up for this marathon. I drove just over 1200 miles in 38 hours.

Lexie's tail touched the ground last year. Baby lips are just too hard on her tail. I think she will need a fake tail for shows. I am sure you will get her in shape. She needs to go back to work! Mommy work is over now!

Any updates on Lexie ??
Zuni is fine, she's doing wonderfully. She just looks so alone in her stall! She's still in a big stall and it's so roomy now without mom in there. She got her head in some burrs this weekend and I have been picking the stickers out of her mane. This time of year those prickly burrs are everywhere. All my horses have them. |
