My darling horse is being vetted on Wednesday, and I have very ambiguous feelings about it. First, the home he would be going to is wonderful, perfect people from what I've heard, and an easier competitive life for him. I have been doing the A/O's with him, prospective new owner is looking for a 2'6" to 3' horse for her to learn on, and they are a terrific match.

Sale of horse will allow me to purchase the next, hopefully more competitive A/O horse, or concentrate on making up the fancy baby I have in the barn. Exciting possibilities ahead.

So..................why am I feeling so blue?

I have been showing regularly this year and have enjoyed it very much. No matter which route trainer and I go after sale of darling horse, therre will at least be a few months of transition and change in routine.

Maybe that's the answer, I just hate change. :(

It's never easy to say good bye to a good horse. Hope everything works out for both you and him.

Thanks to all. The vetting is tomorrow and I'm trying not to stress, regardless of which way it goes.

Sadiesmom, still hopeful that you will fall in love with the "other bay boy". :luck:

Even when you are ready to sell them its hard. I sold one of my favorite A/O horses 2 1/2 years ago to a wonderful family in VA. The people are so nice I can't even put it into words. They have a lovely farm and were so excited to be getting him.

I cried for days before he left and when I saw him at a show for the first time I was so glad I was there to braid in the middle of the night because he nickered at me and I burst into tears.

Getting a new one or concentrating on the baby you have will help but for some reason it is always so hard to let them go.

  from MD.

2BB, he's still on my mind! In fact, when I saw this thread, I thought, oh, no, she found a home for Dutch!!! Wish I lived closer, I could at least get to know him. Good luck with your 2-year-old or new horse or whatever you decide to work on next.

Darling horse in my avatar has sold :,( and goes to his new perfect home and mommy this weekend.

We are currently standing 5th in the VHSA and 13th in the Zone for older A/O's. He more than fulfilled the dreams and plans I had for him. Now it is time for him to fulfill the dreams of his new rider and I wish them all the best.

Congrats on the sale of your horse but I know how hard it is....just look at my stockpile. It's wonderful that he'll go on to a new loving home and have a nice easy job. Good luck moving forward with a new mount and your baby!

Good luck with whatever direction you choose to take with a new one.

I find that any sort of change is hard like that...time will heal, and you'll love your future new guy as much or more....plus I always think about how happy the new owner is with my old horses!!

I remember when I was excited and sad to see the cute little roan Wallie leave, I knew I'd miss him (granted I couldn't show him since he was a pony) but how much I loved to hear updates on how he was with his new kid, and now when I heard he won the Pony Medal this year, I couldn't have felt better!!

Congrats on selling him, and good luck and have fun horse searching! :D
