I got some pics of the event at Woodwinds, they arent great as my camera doesn't do telephoto. But it was a LOT of fun, the courses were really nice to ride, the footing in the dressage rings was excellent, and the whole day went smoothly, in spite of there being gale force winds the night before, that took out ALL their hydro poles, along with the hydro wires. so, the organizers were out there at one in the morning, with emergency hydro crews disconnecting the wires, and with chainsaws cutting up the broken hydro poles that were laying across the driveway, in the parking area, across the fence into the stadium ring.... you NEVER would have known it, from the serene atmosphere when we arrived. now, lets see if I can get some pics up. |

I'll have to live vicariously through the rest of you for a while, so post on! My gelding just turned 25 this year, and althought he's really holding up amazingly well for riding, the standing around tied to the trailer or in a stall really makes him stiff and uncomfortable, so I don't think he's going much of anywhere other than out for trail rides these days. My mare had her foal in April, so we're just about ready to wean. After that she'll go back to working seriously, but it'll take a while before she's ready for anything. And other than that, it's the baby, so not a whole lot going on there, though I did report on her adventures-in-puddle It's been fun reading these, and looking at your pictures. Keep up the good work!

Hi, I'm new, been a cross-country addict for a long time, just found this forum. I'm selling my horse that I've taken up to training, and just starting out a youngster, so looking forward to doing some baby courses next spring. He's a very athletic jumper, and feels like he's got a flair for dressage, but he's also been very hot and emotional, so it's been a long time bringing him along. I did two training level derby's this spring, and one trials before I sent my horse off, so I didn't get much of a drug fix this year. The derby's were a blast. |

I am strictly a Wannabe but I did event once when I was a kid decades ago and I have been a fan. Four years ago, his first year showing, we took our young lad out to an event to familiarize him with natural obstacles and this picture is the very last obstacle no. 22 on a scorching hot day. The first dozen fences he overjumped about two feet or more, and it was also the very first time he ever had to step in water in his life. Just a wonderful experience for him. This is his daughters first year under saddle and last week his daughter did her first hunt and went wonderfully, jumping everything. I feel like a very proud Grandma.![]() |

SSH, what a gorgeous boy! Congrats on your "grandkids", too. I haven't posted over here in forever because I am totally horseless and as a former eventer it makes me crazy knowing that when I finally do get my next horse, I may have lost my nerve (46 now and competed last when I was 39). Anyway, I'll check in every once in awhile to keep my feet headed in the right direction. |

whoops I thought I was posting a link to my pictures. Sadies Mom, you can't lose your nerve, your too young yet. No word of a lie, when I was at Topline Horse Trials in Salmon Arm last year, there was this guy named Roger -- 80 plus??. While he was warming up for stadium, his denture glue fell out of his back pocket into the arena dirt, so I picked it up, and kept it for him, till he was finished his round. Now that I'm becoming an old-timer in the sport, I sure cheer when I see other people getting on in years eventing, and believe me you are young yet!!

Awww shucks, Sunhawk, thanks for the encouragement!!! I really hope I can get back on the scene soon. Sometimes I go to spectate at a few events and love watching everyone come off of XC. I just stand there with tears in my eyes feeling that feeling again. I especially like watching the kids grinning from ear to ear and shouting out a wooo-hoooo as they go through the finish flags. Wow, I really miss it!! |

Here I am, Gunnar! With the implosion of COTH somebody suggested coming over here to preserve our eventing forum community. This seems like a great board-- it is a little quiet but we can fix that! stacy

I'm here too. This is so sad. I can't believe this is actually happening. I still don't believe COTH is just going to....end. Well at least we're all here, and on that other forum. I guess my grades will go up since I won't be on COTH all the time. At least this place has A LOT of cool smilies. This is what I want to do to all the COTH trolls...

i'm still here too! just not much to report yet, well take that back. my young horse did his first show at beg.novice at the ocala show 2 weeks ago. he was a star. this is my little resale horse. he so needs to be a pony club kids horse. never been in a real dressage ring, went in a little worried but settled right down, got a 43 from karen winn- butler. then his first real full course in stadium and was clean until the last fence(got distracked from all the photo people) and pulled the last rail, but got all his changes and strides right. then on to cross county on sunday. he was just introduced to c.c. 2 weeks prior to the event. he went out and just whopped it. he got a little upset at a small house right before the water and was looking at all the people standing around the water, so a stop at the little house(no biggie) came back around and jumped right over it. what a goodboy he was. ended up 10th out of 16 at his first real show! he is sooo cool. will be moving up to novice at rocking horse in jan! |
