I'm moving to Raleigh, NC in mid-September, and would love to get barn recommendations from folks in the area. I am not involved in the show circuit at all--looking for a place with great care, a more laid-back atmosphere, good facilities, etc.

Thank you!

If this is the neighsayer I know from elsewhere, I have a personal contact down there who might be able to help you.

Welcome to the Raleigh area. It would be helpful we knew what part of Raleigh, or surrounding area, you will be moving to and what type of riding you do before making a recommendation. You could also check out the classifieds on nchorsenews.com for possibilities.

Hi--thanks for the offer to provide information. I will be living in the North Hills area. I am not a competitive rider, so am looking for a place that is not a show barn and has a good number of pleasure riders (or schooling show people) and a fairly laid-back atmosphere. Access to trails would be nice, but not necessary.

Thank you!

Try the Double D Equestrian Center. There's a hunter trainer there now, but as far as I know, there are other boarders there who are not part of the trainer's clientele. They've been working on the facility for the last two years and the improvements have been pretty remarkable. I've not been inside the barns though. Lots of nice trail riding land and some small, basic XC jumps. It'd probably be a half-hour north of you, more if you're heading up there during rush hour times.

Double D is really nice. I have been there a few times to ride their trails which are great. The horses look good and people look like they're having fun. It probably wouldn't be a terrible drive now that 540 is open. You could also put a post on nchorsenews asking for suggestions. You might be able to find something a little closer in.

Thank you so much! I will definitely check out Double D (and I wish I had Double D's, but that's a whole 'nother thread . . . )
