Truth or a MArketing ploy?

NAmes changed on purpose

Copied Ad:

Dear XYZ,
As many of you know, I've been breeding top quality XXX
Horses and XXXX for more than a decade. The past few years have
seen such an increase of business related responsibilities that I have
little time to devote to the horses being produced out of this program.
Though I dearly love each one of these animals - and most of them are
'the best of the best,' originally slated to remain in the xxx Stables breeding/riding program forever - I have reluctantly
decided that keeping them is a grave disservice. They deserve more
one-on-one loving attention than I can give. Also, horses of this
caliber should not be hidden on top of a remote hillside in
YYY!
I'm accepting offers from those of you who will describe your horse
related experience and needs, and the kind of environment provided. As
with all of our horse related endeavors, XXX strives to meet
the highest standards of responsibility when we sell horses to the
public. All horses will be exactly as described. Besides the general
description and information on each horse, I will describe the kind of
person who will make the best match for each particular animal. If you
write to tell me your needs and level of experience, I can make an
educated suggestion.
Buyer must place a non-refundable 50% deposit on horse within three
days after acceptance of offer to purchase, or sale will default to the
next qualified buyer. All major credit card purchases accepted. Buyer
is responsible for a (mandatory) pre-purchase vet exam fee of $100. We
can arrange for the vet check, and recommend using one of our vets,
none of whom would ever fudge a pre-purchase vet exam. If there's a
problem, then we want to know about it, too! If the horse should fail
to check out sound, then we will refund all monies paid.
It's important that these animals receive good management during their
travel. We know qualified haulers who do a good job for a reasonable
fee, and will be happy to assist you with shipping arrangments. All
sales are final, pending the completed vet check. All horses have
current negative coggins, are up to date on immunizations, teeth
floating and hoof care. The veterinarian who provides the vet check can
also provide health certificates for travel.
I want to note that, unlike the majority of XXX horses on the market
today, none of these xxx horses perform the damaging XX or
XXX. Some of the young xxx stock do still xxx at liberty
- but every one of them expresses natural gait tendency that can be
firmly established once under saddle - the older horses' gaits have
already been developed. Anyone wishing to purchase one of the riding
horses must already own an appropriate xxxx(tm) saddle and
xxx Bit, or plan to purchase this tack at the time the horse
is taken home. No exceptions will be made, as the long term welfare of
xxx horses is our primary business, and passion!
Don't be fooled by slick horse ads that claim their 2, 3, and 4 year
old horses are 'bomb proof,' or appropriate for 'advanced beginners.'
This just isn't the case with young horses, except in very rare
instances. Count on xxx to be honest about the qualities of
these horses at their current state of maturity and training - and we
will not push them too fast, too young. This is to the buyer's long
term benefit! Most of these horses, even the very young ones, can be
brought around by someone with advanced beginner or intermediate
riding/handling skills.

End copied post

my take is MArketing ploy, esp as you have to have xxx saddle at $ 1600 a pop, and xxx bit at $ 60 per. :spew:

Either a new marketing strategy, or someone who is so anal they have to control everything, and everyone, their lives touch.

I often wonder if anal people think everyone admires their control, organization, whatever. Not knowing the people like me avoid them like the plague :teehee:

Sorry, but there are too many OTHER nice horses out there on the market to have to go through all that mess.

And if I'm looking to buy I am using the vet of MY choice...not the sellers.

After you drink the Kool-Aid, buy a saddle AND a bit of course you MUST have one of their TM specialty brand majical horses.....

I read that and just laughed, then I got annoyed. What makes your stuff so special??? Did ya breed your horses to fit the saddle or what?

Hmmph.

The scary part is they will probably have buyers lining up for these magical horses and their special saddles.

Good grief, that reminds me of the $500 just to look thread on TOB.

I thought about that too. And with the way it's worded it would not surprise me one bit if it were the same folks.

I didn't find the thread on a quick search, but then the search function never seems to work that well over there. :brickwall: Sorry!

OMG, that is effin nuts! If they seriously had people lining up to buy horses in that manner, I'd be amazed. Actually, wait - I wouldn't be amazed. The stupidity of people never fails.

DQ, the $500 to look thread is about a year (?) old, but quite worth a read if you can find it. Same kind of deal. Horse seller has a website that has a bunch of rules and conditions. One of which is that if you want to go look at one of their horses you pay a $500 deposit - which will go to the purchase price. But if you don't buy then too bad for your $500! :shoot:
