Someone please stop me.

I'm going to look at a trailer tomorrow night. The trailer's owner is struggling to pay grad school bills and is getting totally out of horses. She's selling her 2H bumper pull trailer (with tack room) for peanuts in order to facilitate a quick sale.

And I mean peanuts. As in my Bates saddle is worth more on the used market than she's asking for this trailer. PEANUTS.

It has new brakes, wiring, and tires. The floor is supposedly in good shape and the pictures show very minimal rust, although I will of course inspect in person. She's never measured it but hauls a 16+hh Tennessee Walker in it, so how small can it really be?

I need a trailer like I need a hole in my head. I don't even own a truck. Frankly my young horse will not "need" a rig for at least another 10 or 11 months--he is just barely able to do a Training Level dressage test as it is. If there were an emergency, I have three people ready and willing to haul me. If I want to hitch a ride to shows, I have a friend who will take me if I smile nicely and bake some goodies.

Somebody stop me from looking at this trailer. Or hell, if you're anywhere near Ann Arbor, PM me and I'll tell you about it so that YOU can buy it and get me out of trouble! :jaw:

Learn from a Barnmate...
Have it checked by a reputable trailer dealer.....
She didn't , it didn't pass inspection, and is now facing repair bills higher ( and in addition to ) what she paid....
Chassis and all undercarriage totally shot.
Inspector told her don't put your dog in there....

Ok, probably not going to help, but if its in good condition and you can afford it without wondering how your going to eat for the next month, get it. You will have so much more freedom to go where you want with your horses. Not to mention it will give you a reason to buy a truck :P

Oppy is right - if the price is right and the trailer proves to be horse worthy you can't go wrong getting one. :cloud9:

So I went to see the trailer.

It was a really good deal. It suited my purposes. It was, as promised, in excellent shape for its age and really did have new wiring/brakes/etc.

Then, because horse world karma is weird like that, I got invited to a barn that does not have a trailer spot for me right now but will definitely have one for me in a few months. So I declined on the trailer for now, but passed on the contact info to a friend of mine who already has a truck and is shopping for just such a trailer. I'm hoping the horsie karma will work in my favor and another deal will show up next year. :)
