Just wanted to say Hello to everyone. I'm new to this B/B on theoutside course. I wanted to share with everyone the good news about [/B]My Palomino eventing stallion Pegasus Pure Gold. He is out of MY preliminary event mare Pontenise and by thoroughbred stallion Billionair. I had the joy of foaling him out at my farm, raising, training and now competing him. Now for the big brag, He won his division at Winona Horse Trials in the 5 yr old young event horse division. The great thing about the eventing young horse divisions is that they score the horse in three different aspects. 1.conformation- the horse is scored in 6 parts (type, frame, legs, feet, jog and general impression). Each part gets a score of 1-10 it is then divided by 6 which gives you the average score for that section and then multiplied by 1.5 which is the importance level in the total score. 2.dressage which has 5 parts (trot, walk, canter, submissiveness and general impression) this score is divided by 5 for the average and then multiplied by3.5. 3.Is the jumping test. The horse is scored on (style, jumping ability, learning ability, suitability and potential and general impression). This is divided by 5 and the multiplies by4.0. His final score when the totals where tallied was an 83.605. You only need a qualifying score of 70 at two competitions to attend the championships. I'd say he made a heck of an impression  It is so rewarding to take a horse from foaling to the show ring and do it all on your own. All of the horses that I have competing or are getting ready to begin the careers are home breds. I realized a long time ago that the only way I would be able to obtain a quality horse was to breed it myself. Because of this realization the only mares I purchase and breed are of high quality. The foals that are born are all potential competition horses for myself and I know from experience what will be competetive. If you'd like to check out the big guy you can see him at www.pegasuspuregold.com |

Hi, I'm Mary. Cosmo is beautiful!!!
I am not very familiar with eventing, so I really was glad to see the point breakdown. I used to fence judge at Radnor, that's my limited knowledge.I've just gotten my first babies....a pony(tb/welsh) and a TB, both fillys. I'm really looking forward to putting these girls together and into the show ring. I have a tiny grown daughter that loves riding ponies......thank tom....and 3 grand daughters under 4 to ride the pony as well. I gelded my stallion this year. I found keeping up with eveything was really alot of work and decided to focus on what I love, putting them together and showing. Besides, there are so many really nice stallions to choose from, I don't feel like it'll be hard to find breedings for the girls. Keep us up on your lovely boy!! aannnndd.....kids! Mary |

What a fabulous score! It is so nice to have a score rather than just a comparison of who is there on a given day. And the details really let you know your strengths and weaknesses. but with that score there are no weaknesses in your boy! Hope you go to the finals! |

Hi Mary, Thank you for the compliment on my stallion. He is such a joy to ride. He reminds me of his dam. She had such a lovely way of covering the ground at any gait and she was a supurb jumper. Before I had purchased her, I had seen her at a clinic and was in absolute awe of her. I thought to myself if only I could have a horse like that. 5 years later her owner was off to college and needed to sell her so I bought her for a broodmare. I only got two foals out of her, PPG and his 1/2 sister Exquisite Pegasus(there is a jumping picture of her on my website[if you look under competition horses). She is also a phenomenal athlete. I have another mare, Broadway Finale, that I have high hopes for as well. She is a 4 yr old this year and is currently being a mom. She had a PPG foal this spring. I broke her to ride last spring. I can't wait untill I can get back to work with her Radnor was a wonderful 3- day competition. It's too bad they have decided not to run it any more. I competed at Radnor twice on my horse Jamaican Blue. The first time, I moved way up since he was only 1 of 5 that completed the cross country double clear. unfortunately he caught a rail between his legs in the triple combination during stadium and we both went down. This was an automatic elimination. I'm looking forward to my foals getting to this level and beyond. The sky's the limit.

I love the radnor CC course and always loved the local hunters there.....I still plan on taking my youngsters to the chester co local show series. It's fun. Love the people. And it's a great "baby in the show ring" experiance with out the expanse and stress. I can't tell you how many times I did the warm up gallop around Radnor before a show. I did see your site, and your horses are really neat. It'll be fun watching everyone. My x-stallion is a blast to ride, even when he was a stallion, people had to "look" when I said he's a stallion, like they didn't believe me. Oh well, he's a sweet gelding now.... Mary |
