Doesn't Beval carry them? I think I remember seeing them in the catalog.

I'd call Beval. That's where I got my last one. The chain nosebands are easier to find, or you can even make one for like 2 bucks.

Farmhouse tack has a whole slew of them. I've called them before and had them ship them to shows for other people....and they were cheaper!

prf - I'm glad to you asked this, b/c I was getting ready to start a thread about :P I'm so glad to have TOC, any other board and we would've gotten majorly attacked for a question like this.

Anyhow, does anyone know where and if you can have studs or a chain added to a noseband you already have?

plain bay, You might call Beval and ask them if they will sew a chain on your noseband. I heard that they might do it. Good luck.

And you are so right about how wonderful the people on this bb are. Not one ugly word about studs or chains! :cheer:

Beval just made one for me. I dropped the noseband off and the tailor sewed the chain in. I think it cost $ 42.00 for the work.

I don't know if they can do the studded one like that but it's worth a call

Not sure where you horse show... if in the VA region, Champion Saddlery is usually at most of the rated shows and they carry them.

Ok, now I'm going to sound REALLY naive here but why would you guys use these? Would a stronger/different type of bit not do the same thing? Obviously, I don't know anything about them.

I'm with BT - what are they for?

The visual i get is like the kid at my nephews grad party with a black doggie collar and the studs pointed out - I wanted to call him Spike. Mr DQ would not let me.

His face also looked like he fell in someones fishing tackle box..... :jaw:

It's not like that DQ - the studs are very small and blunt and on the inside of the noseband. The chain is a small piece of chain sewn into the front underside of the noseband.

They're not very scary at all
