I found a tick on my mare last night (ick ick ick!!!!) called the vet this a.m. and her service sez (yes she will call back) that ticks are vectors for PHF. Anyone else hear this????? Oh, and yes my mare has been innoced for PHF. |

That was the theory years ago. It has since been identified that an organism in the flatworm larvae of fresh water snails are the probable carriers of the disease. Well, we've found out the hard way that ticks carry a bunch of nasty things. Lyme of course, ehrlichia equi, and bartonella aka cat scratch fever! I'm sure there's more, and they haven't been "discovered" yet. |

The true myth here is that the answering service claims that they will relay the message. Hopefully your vets answering service is better then the one we have for my office.
