I took my pony to a second show today and he was just as good as Saturday and we had a good time.

Anyway, I was mostly excited because there was a show photographer and I could FINALLY get some pictures of me with my pony. I show alone, so I have to rely on show photographers...

NOT ONE SINGLE PICTURE OF ME!

I'm not even in the background of any of them!!!

I guess I should have ASKED the photographer to take pictures of me... but gosh, before English horse in hand I was talking on my cell standing *right next to her* talking about how excited I was there was a photographer and how I couldn't wait to buy some pictures :o

I'm pretty sure I was there... I mean, it's like I disappeared, lol.

Oh, we got 4th of 7 in Pony Halter and 4th of 9 in English Horse in Hand. Most of all, he was quiet and good all day. Yay pony! :cheer:

Congrats on the good performance!

I share your pain re: show photography. I was at a show yesterday and they didn't get one decent picture. Although I am happy they got me at all because too often I think show photographers do not pay much attention to the adult divisions. Can't blame 'em--I'm sure the show moms and dads do a lot more purchasing of photos of their kids. Unfortunately, my horse and I are just not particularly photogenic. I cringe when I look at the pictures. They actually "owe" me a free 8x10 as a prize from previous show, and I didn't even want any of the pics for free!

Make sure you ask and let them know what class you are in and your number. There is so much going on at a show that sometimes it is hard for them to get a good photo.

I did a dressage show last fall with a mare that I had for sale so I was thinking that it would be nice to get some photos for her in the show ring. Not. She ran out of room on her card just before I went in to ride so she was back to down loading and the next day one of my students was talking to her when I was riding, so she was busy and didn't take any. I was so mad, But they told me to make sure I let them know next time so that it wouldn't happen again. I have to say they did a very good because there was 3 rings running.

I feel your pain....

Back when I first started showing again I was riding my lease horse at our first little away show. I wasn't sure how many times I would be showing this horse where there was a photographer (I do little tiny local shows). Turns out there was one at the show...and I went and asked him to shoot us. They even took some portraits. Sounds great, right?

Well, I could never get the pictures. I can't completely remember what happened, because I know I saw a good one of us jumping that day, but when I tried to order, I NEVER got a response back. I reached the guy once or twice on his cell, and he always said he'd get me the picture, but he didn't respond to e-mail or messages. I was bummed because it was our first show and we even ended up champion of our green rider division.

Luckily, my friend's new boyfriend, who knew nothing about horses or photographing horses, was able to get this shot:

I think he did an outstanding job. (God, looking at that makes me remember how PAINFUL that helmet was. And check it out...I actually braided. Heh, I don't think I've done that since)

I dabble in horse show photography, and know how ridiculously overwhelming it can be- BUT I'm on your side. If she got pictures of the other horses in the class, that's pretty ridiculous...

My first and only rated show with my horse, I was the same way- really excited to come away with some show pics since I've never had any good ones... I was in the second class of the day and come to find out later the photographer strolled in an hour late to the show so no pics for me! :argh:

Giddy-up,

You wouldn't be the first. When I posted it on COTH for a critique many moons ago, everyone kept commenting on the scenery. I was like 'I must really suck if all they can say is how pretty the background is.' Heh.

California has it's wonderful moments. Sadly, there will be no pictures like that this year. We had about 2 weeks of green and everything is brown and crisp again already. There is some beauty in the dark green oaks on the "golden" hills, but I tend to prefer the green.

Oh there are pictures of every other horse in the class  There are like 10 pictures of the bay arabian that was next to us <_<

Ah well, I will have pictures eventually - if I have to go to every stinkin' fun and saddle association show in NE Illinois!

And yes, that is a LOVELY picture... everything is nice about it :) I do LOFF the vineyards in the background, lovely! But also a good picture of horse and rider :)
