I Visited Candy Mountain and All I Got Was This Lousy Incision

 Our mare foaled at 8:15 thursday evening! She is a very well purebred Arabian that stood in a field and did nothing for her 13 years-not broke, bred, shown-ZIP. She is extremely well bred and gorgeous. (bear with me those who don't like the breed! ) She and another were given to me by the breeder when the owner passed away and the breeder got them back. The other mare we broke and she is learning to jump=amazing mover and good jumper;she may be headed for the pony ring!) Debated about breaking this mare but we had a stallion that we had been wnating to breed to for a few years and now we had a mare worthy of him. His name is Klint Black, also an Arabian. (I personally love the challenge of taking a purebred and turning them into good hunters for the 3 foot divisions!)
This mare followed the book, in fact, she could have written a primer on breeding and foaling. Showed in heat regularly, became pregnant on the first breeding, progressed nicely, prepared herself for foaling step by step! We got one of those foal predictor kits but you needed milk to use it. She bagged up a week or so before her due date-May 14th but no milk. Thursday am she ahd wax and I thought that we would be seeing a baby soon! She was agitated all day and by miday we brought her in and used the test kit. It said within 12 hours and it was correct! (good investment of $28!) She ate her supper and we went into the house to watch her on camera. She walked around and ate her hay a bit but when she laid down for a few minutes and got up again I knew it was time so we went out, bandaged her tail and away she went! She ahd a bit of a time getting the shoulders out but this filly was strong and ready to meet the world! Vet check yesterday afternoon proved all was well though mom wanted to kill us!
All things being equal, you will be seeing this filly over fences somewhere in the future!
