I'm a school teacher and this time of year in inevitably crazy with exams, wind down and graduation. I REALLY want to horse show the weekend of June 2-3 but my exam will be given June 1st and report cards are due June 6th(all 95 of them)...I've been grooming Saturdays and showing Sundays and I think I'm just going to have to groom Saturday and spend Sunday working. Arrrggg, I can't WAIT for it to OVER and vacation to start.

I am envious of you... and here's why...

<<vacation to start>>

What is this "vacation" you speak of? This is a concept I am unfamiliar with. The last vacation I took was January 2005. :(

You'll find a way to balance it, I know you're a good multitasker. And if you feel like you have to skip the show, your gut feeling is probably correct.

Ahhh, yes, the vacation of which I speak is why I continue at my poorly paying teaching job: I'm off from June 7th through September 7th to do what I please. So...if I want to show every weekend in July, I CAN! :)

I actually find that I spend so much time with my horses that I leave no time for anything else. I leave no time for friends, little time for my fiance, I haven't had my hair cut in over a year, I haven't had a pedicure in 2 years, haven't had my nails done since college, etc etc.

:( I commute 2 hours to work in the morning, then commute 30 min to the barn to ride 2 horses, then commute 1.5 hours home. My day starts at 6:30am and I get home at 9pm. I feel guilty if I skip a day at the barn. If I do happen to skip a day at the barn riding one of my show horses, I take that time to see my pregnant mare or my retiree at one of their respective farms (2 hours away from my house or 1 hour away from my house. 2 different directions. I'd have to choose). My weekends in the summer are spent showing. Luckily next weekend my fiance and I are going to the beach together for a weekend away. Our last one together until late July for his birthday. Every weekend until then will be spent at horse shows.

I think I'm sick in the head.
