I Visited Candy Mountain and All I Got Was This Lousy Incision

I have been up with my mare the last 2 nights and still no foal! 2 nights ago she started biting her sides, kicking her belly, her tail was squirreling around like nuts and she almost took me out slamming her butt against the wall as if it were a matter of national security! NO WAX...More forward to yesterday, milk droplets on her teats, same uncomfy behavior plus pawing and intermittent sweating. She is so relaxed in her back end, I am afraid it might catch a gust of wind and go sailing off the property. Still no wax, but when I was checking her out last night and was leaning on her rump, the foal kicked me. So I assume it is no longer "transverse". These kicks seemed more insulting to my poor mare, so there was more kicking, pinned ears and another "state of emergency" butt slam. Now today, I am sure her udder has shrunk, back to yellow discharge and she doesn't look like she has a care in the world. Day 339, is there any hope? I would really like some sleep. Last year she waxed on day 340 and next day had milk streaming from her udder. 2 hours later she delivered.

I'm with you sisters! Due date was Monday but she has no milk yet. Udder is tight, baby has shifted, hindquarters relaxed, etc. We started the camera on her Friday night and she got real restless, kicking, looking at her side etc, but nothing. I did get one of those foal testing kits that are suppose to be very accuarate to within 24 hours but you need milk to do the test! Maiden mare so anything goes I guess! Good luck to all who are on the "waiting list"! |

Congrats Norsire!! Still waiting here...the weather is quite chilly so perhaps she is waiting for the weekend when it is supposed to warm up. I think my hubby is whispering in her ear and conspiring against me. There is an auction on Sat I was hoping to attend. My wallet will be safe if I am farm bound on foal watch. <_< |

We used the Foaling Test kit and it was spot on! Mix a bit of milk with the solution and then dip a test strip. If four or more squares change color, baby in 12 hours. A well spent $28! |

My mare went backwards on her Chemetrics test from last night. WTF? I really thought we were a few days off yesterday, tonight, not so much. She's probably baking me a boy who will come out in July.

Still waiting....forget about the mare being grouchy, I am down right miserable. If this mare does not foal soon, hubby is going to file for divorce! AWWW those red mares, gotta love them.

He's finally here. After torturing me for a week, Brauhaus (by Budweiser) decided to foal out a feisty, bright eyed colt!! ( by Guaranteed Gold) Everyone is fine, mama is tired, I am tired, but the colt is already trotting circles around the mare in the stall. Now I have about a weeks worth of sleep to catch up on and about 10 mins. Pics are at 2 hours old. ,
