I don't know if this has been posted before but it is an excellent article on feeding beet pulp. I love the stuff and feed the shredded kind with molasses. I don't soak it but rather just wet it down well with cold water in the summer and hot water in the winter. My guys all love it.

I haven't read the article yet but we feed sugarbeet/beet pulp here and it is great stuff. The version that I feed is in large 'nuts' and has to be soaked for 24 hours as it swells a mighty amount! You can also get Ezybeet which required a 15 minute soak. It is a great fibre source and I feed it to any horses I have that need to gain weight.

<<If soaked beet pulp is provided, drinking will be proportionately less as the moisture content of the soaked pulp supplies considerable water. >>

This is reason enough to soak it, especially in hot weather when horses are working hard.

If I need to keep it fresh in summer for any period of time (beyond a day or so) or to keep it from freezing in the winter, I keep mine in the tack room refrigerator in the summer, and beside the hot water heater in the winter.
