Well, it turns out my horse doesn't have a partial tear in his DDFT (second ultrasound, once the swelling went down, didn't show any damage). The problem is in his stifle. Apparently, when he was trying to pull his leg free out of the gap between the stall wall boards at the horse show, he did a number on his stifle.

The films were clean, but the ultrasound showed a chip, floaters, and some fraying of the meniscus. He flexed a 3/5 before a joint block, but jogged 90% sound after the block. We have an appointment at NC State in a couple weeks. It looks like he'll probably have to have surgery, but they'll do another ultrasound first.

Has anyone else dealt with this type of stifle injury before? If so, what was your experience and outcome?
