Between work, Devon (this seems to be the year of no-show volunteers and children under the age of 5 who can't count working the cash register), boyfriend's b-day (I have no gift yet and it's today), the shipper who won't tell me when he's getting the horse, worry about whether I can get out of Devon to meet Somerset when he arrives, and waiting for Somerset... I might have a nervous breakdown before Friday gets here!

This is understandable :yes. Good luck on finding the patience to keep it all together - and even more luck in finding the bf a gift. Sheesh, men are hard to shop for.

For the BoyFriend gift.......

If he's 'into' his car/truck, go to Auto Zone and get stuff to dress it up/tools/etc.

If he likes doing projects go to home depot or lowes and get some tools and a project type book.

a new fishing pole and reel if he likes fishing (I was shocked how much these cost!).

does he grill? call omaha steak company and order him some top line steaks.

find a nice photo of the two of you, get a mat and a frame and wrap it up.

With any of the above also include a gift certificate for a romantic home cooked meal followed by a nice relaxing backrub.

I went to SLT and managed to find a nice girth, the same type Suzie uses now on him, in his size-- for $20. So that's one thing down... zillions to go ;) Heh heh! Exciting!

One girth?? ONE Girth??

I just bought 5 for our new boy - but then we ride across the state in 3 weeks and you MUST have a clean dry one for each day so....

Gift for man: girft cert @ sporting goods store
gift cert from $$$ mens shop
food is never wrong
underware for you is never wrong ;)

The shipper has confirmed, Somerset will be picked up Friday before noon. It's about a 5.5 hours drive in a car, maybe 6.5/7 in a trailer?! So I estimate he'll get to NJ late afternoon, early evening.

His stall is all made up, he's in lucky number 13. :) He'll get to spend a week or so going out in a paddock by himself where he can see the other horses but not touch noses. Then into the nose touching paddock, and then out with a smallish herd consisting of my pony and 3 other horses.

I've ordered a stall plate and selected "his colors..." navy with a baby blue accent (sort of an homage to Shane, my retiree, whose colors were gray with baby blue accent). Once he comes and I get his measurements, the true shopping can begin (very scary, watch out Dover Visa!)

I cannot *wait* for him to get here. Suzie has been so awesome getting together all the paperwork and arranging things. I don't know what I'd do without her. Dr. Flynn and Dr. Schmidt have been wonderful too.

I am so lucky! :cloud9: Only 2 more days and counting, and they should go fast because I am going to be absolutely killed with work and Devon between now and then! :P :brickwall: :psycho:

P.S.- Had a suddent stroke of genius and got the boyfriend a stereo/charging dock thing for his ipod. He loved it.

One girth??  ONE Girth??

Well, only one for now. I am hoping Somerset will slim down a bit once he gets into work, and then I won't need a 54/56...

Coming from riding a pony who wears a 44/46, that just seemed INCREDIBLE to me. When I was in the store, I had to keep checking the tag to make sure it was the right size because it just seemed so BIG!

Well it could be worse. My friend has a 3yo TB gelding (yes, TB. yes, 3) that wears a 54".

Hey, don't be knocking the 54" girth. Both the Princess and Atti mcFatty rock the 54" girths, and I'd wager HJChick's horse is rockin' a 56" or a 54" on the LAST holes. I've decided a large girth is a sign of a good horse :P

Ok, so I can't wait for you to get your new pony. If he were a wee bit closer in Virginny I'd go sneak a gander before he leaves the Commonwealth.

Hehe, I've offered up my 52" girth that my 15.3 on a TALL day Appendix mare used to wear. She was a big chunk of lovin'! :)

I can wrap it around the Bullet twice. :teehee:

I guess!

Both hubby's and my TWH take 30" girths.
